The Moto G86 Power is the stronger pick on listed battery capacity, storage, display resolution and water-and-dust protection; the Moto G85 may make better sense if it is meaningfully cheaper where you shop. In one Motorola India listing snapshot, both phones had 8/128 GB configurations, with the G86 Power shown at ₹17,999 and the G85 at ₹15,999—a ₹2,000 displayed gap. That is a market- and time-specific price, not a global or guaranteed current difference.

Battery: more capacity on the G86 Power
The G86 Power’s listed 6,720 mAh battery is larger than the G85’s 5,000 mAh battery. Motorola also advertises up to 53 hours of power for the G86 Power and more than 34 hours for the G85, but those are manufacturer estimates, not results from a controlled comparison between the phones. Motorola says its G86 family estimate uses a median-user mixed-use profile combining use and standby under optimal network conditions; signal, settings, temperature, battery condition and usage affect actual results. See Motorola’s G86 family announcement and the G85 specification page.

Both screens are listed at 6.67 inches, but the G86 Power has a higher 2712 × 1220 resolution AMOLED panel with HDR10+ and an adaptive refresh rate up to 120 Hz. The G85 has a 2400 × 1080 pOLED panel rated at 120 Hz. The listed specifications favor the G86 Power for resolution and HDR support; they do not establish a measured difference in brightness or overall image quality.
Durability: higher published ratings for the G86 Power
Motorola lists IP68/IP69 protection for the G86 Power and IP52 for the G85. These ratings are not interchangeable: use the rating for the exact regional model and follow Motorola’s care guidance rather than treating either phone as damage-proof.

Storage, software and connectivity
The US support pages list the G86 Power with 512 GB storage and Android 15, while the G85 page lists 128 GB or 256 GB and Android 14. They also identify different processors—the G86 Power’s MediaTek Dimensity 7300 and the G85’s Snapdragon 6s Gen 3. These specifications alone do not prove which phone is faster; no head-to-head benchmark results are established here. The same pages list Bluetooth 5.4 and NFC for the G86 Power, versus Bluetooth 5.1 and no NFC entry for the G85. Absence from a specification page is not proof of universal absence across regional versions.

How much more does the Moto G86 Power cost?
A Motorola India product-family listing snapshot showed the 8/128 GB Moto G86 Power at ₹17,999 and the 8/128 GB Moto G85 at ₹15,999, a displayed difference of ₹2,000. The same listing showed MRP values of ₹19,999 for the G86 Power and ₹20,999 for the G85; those listed MRPs are not the displayed selling prices. The figures are India-specific, time-sensitive listing values, not verified current prices or launch prices. Check the Motorola India product-family page for the live offer and exact configuration.
There is no single price difference that applies worldwide. Motorola’s G85 announcement directed buyers to local teams for price and availability information and described availability by market. Compare the same RAM and storage configuration, local taxes, seller and current discounts before deciding whether the premium is worthwhile.
Which phone should you choose?
Choose the Moto G86 Power if
- You want the larger listed battery capacity and more storage.
- You value the higher-resolution display, HDR10+ listing or stronger published IP rating.
- The price gap for the matching configuration is acceptable in your market.
Choose the Moto G85 if
- It is substantially cheaper where you live and its 128 GB or 256 GB configuration meets your needs.
- You prefer the lighter listed weight or need the two-nano-SIM arrangement shown on Motorola’s US page.
- You are comfortable with its Full HD+ display, smaller listed battery and IP52 rating.
For performance, camera quality or real-world battery life, compare independent tests of the exact regional models rather than inferring a winner from processor names or manufacturer estimates. The specification-based case for the G86 Power is clearest for battery capacity, storage, display resolution and protection; the G85’s value depends on its actual local price.
