Choose the Moto G Stylus 2026 if you want a built-in active pen for handwriting, document markups, or casual sketching. Consider a Samsung Galaxy A phone if a long stated software-support commitment and the specific screen, camera, or AI features Samsung lists matter more. The evidence here supports comparing the Moto G Stylus 2026 with Samsung’s 2025 Galaxy A36 and A56, but it does not establish whether those are Samsung’s newest US A-series models in 2026. Check Samsung’s current US lineup and live prices before choosing a particular model.
At a glance: pen or Samsung’s published support commitment?
| What matters most | Better fit among these named models | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Built-in active stylus | Moto G Stylus 2026 | Motorola identifies a built-in active stylus on its product page. |
| Published software-support duration | Samsung Galaxy A36 or A56, based on the 2025 announcement | Samsung says covered Galaxy A devices receive up to six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades and six years of security updates. Motorola’s reviewed 2026 product information does not give an equally specific duration. |
| Screen, battery and charging figures | Samsung Galaxy A36 or A56, based on Samsung’s published specifications | Samsung lists a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED screen, up to 1200 nits in High Brightness Mode, a 5,000mAh typical-capacity battery and 45W charging support. |
| Price comparison | Check current prices and configurations | The manufacturers’ launch prices are dated figures, not current street prices; they also refer to different models and launch periods. |
These are use-case and published-specification distinctions, not a measured ranking. The manufacturer information available does not establish comparative camera quality, battery life, or real-world speed.
When the Moto G Stylus 2026 makes more sense
You will use the pen
The defining reason to pick this Moto is its built-in active stylus. It suits someone who expects to jot notes, mark up documents, or sketch casually on the phone. If you do not expect to use a pen, that feature alone may not justify choosing it over a Galaxy A model.
Its listed hardware fits your needs
Motorola lists a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor, LPDDR5X memory and UFS 3.1 storage for the 2026 model. Samsung lists the Exynos 1580 for the A56 and Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 for the A36. Those component names do not prove which phone feels faster; no independent comparison is established here.

When a Galaxy A36 or A56 makes more sense
You value Samsung’s stated update commitment
Samsung’s 2025 US announcement says covered Galaxy A-series devices receive up to six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades and six years of security updates. This is Samsung’s stated commitment; it does not mean every feature or update will arrive everywhere on the same date. The Motorola information reviewed for the 2026 model does not provide a matching support-duration figure, so a precise support-length comparison is not established.

For the A36 and A56, Samsung lists a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display, measured diagonally, with brightness up to 1200 nits in High Brightness Mode. It also lists a 5,000mAh typical-capacity battery and support for 45W charging. Actual battery life varies with use and conditions. Samsung says the 45W charger and compatible cable are sold separately.
You are comparing the right Samsung model and price
Samsung’s 2025 announcement listed US starting prices of $399.99 for the A36 and $299.99 for the A26; a later update said the A56 became available starting at $499.99. These are dated manufacturer starting prices, and current retail prices may differ. The announcement also identifies the A36 and A56 chipsets above, but price and processor specifications do not establish a performance winner.

How to make the comparison before buying
- Check Samsung’s current US Galaxy A lineup. The A36, A56 and A26 details cited here come from Samsung’s 2025 announcement; they do not establish which models are newest or available in the US in 2026.
- Compare exact unlocked configurations and live prices. Confirm model year, storage, seller, and whether the phone is unlocked rather than a carrier-specific variant.
- Check compatibility with your carrier and region. Availability and network compatibility can vary; verify the exact variant with the seller and your carrier before ordering.
- Choose based on the feature you will actually use. Prioritize the Moto’s pen if handwriting or markup is central. Prioritize Samsung’s published support commitment or its listed display and charging specifications if those matter more.
- Look up the model-specific support schedule. Compare current manufacturer support information for the exact phone, rather than assuming that a general product-page summary covers every region or update detail.
What the available specifications cannot tell you
Manufacturer specifications and launch announcements are useful for identifying features, stated support terms, and launch pricing. They do not by themselves settle which phone takes better photos, lasts longer on a charge, performs better in your apps, or offers better value at today’s price. Make those judgments using reliable tests of the exact models and current offers; do not infer them from chipset names or battery capacity alone.
