The SuperMatch 20-T is a rare legacy 20-inch CRT monitor associated with the SuperMac/Sony product family. It is best known today for appearing at Dennis Nedry’s workstation in the Jurassic Park control room, but surviving documentation is too limited to establish a complete official specification sheet.
What is the SuperMatch 20-T?
SuperMatch 20-T refers to a 20-inch cathode-ray-tube monitor. A recent hardware inventory of the equipment visible in the Jurassic Park control room identifies a 20-inch CRT at Dennis Nedry’s station as a SuperMatch 20-T.
The name is also connected in vintage monitor references with STD9752 XL and STD9752XL SuperMatch 20*T. Those references support a model-family relationship, but they do not prove that every monitor carrying one of these labels is identical to every other surviving SuperMatch 20-T.

Jurassic Park control room
The monitor is visible in the Jurassic Park control-room set at Dennis Nedry’s workstation. This film appearance is the reason many modern searches for the model begin with the movie rather than with period computer-hardware catalogs.

Use in a 2001 research experiment
A 2001 research paper refers to a Sony SUPERMATCH 20-T operated at 67 Hz during part of an experiment. That establishes one documented operating condition; it is not a complete statement of the monitor’s supported refresh-rate or resolution range.
What specifications are actually established?
| Item | What the available evidence supports | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Display type | CRT | Identified as a 20-inch CRT in a recent hardware inventory. |
| Nominal size | 20 inches | This is the stated monitor size; it should not be confused with viewable-image measurements. |
| Documented operating refresh | 67 Hz | Recorded for one Sony SUPERMATCH 20-T in part of a 2001 experiment, not a full timing specification. |
| Maximum resolution | Not established for the exact 20-T | Do not substitute the figures listed for the separate 20-T XL variant. |
| Viewable area | Not established for the exact 20-T | A 19.13-inch figure belongs to a period listing for the 20-T XL. |
| Inputs | Not established as a universal specification | One owner reported BNC connectors on the monitor end of the cable. |
| Tube type | Not established as universal | One owner reported a Sony Trinitron tube in a particular unit. |
What does “20-T XL” mean?
A period monitor-comparison table lists the SuperMac SuperMatch 20-T XL with a 1280 × 1024 resolution, aperture-grille display, digital operation, a 19.13-inch viewable image, and a listed price of $2,515. Those figures are for the XL variant, and the publication year of that table is not established here. They should not be presented as exact specifications for an unlabeled SuperMatch 20-T.

- Vibrant Images: Crisp, true-to-life colors come alive in Full HD 1080p resolution. Movies and games appear more real and dramatic, and small details and text are clear with 1920x1080 resolution in a 16:9 aspect ratio.
- Adaptive-Sync Support: Get fast refresh rates thanks to the Adaptive-Sync Support (FreeSync Compatible) product that matches the refresh rate of your monitor with your graphics card. The result is a smooth, tear-free experience in gaming and video playback applications.
- Up 100Hz Refresh Rate: The 100Hz refresh rate speeds up the frames per second to deliver an ultra-smooth 2D motion scene. With a rapid refresh rate of up to 100Hz, Acer Monitors shorten the time it takes for frame rendering, lower input lag and provide gamers an excellent in-game experience.
- Responsive!!: Fast response time of 1ms enhances the experience. Fast-moving action or any dramatic transitions will be rendered smoothly without the annoying effects of smearing or ghosting.
- ZeroFrame Design: With a KB220Q monitor, you’ll want to see as much of the display as possible. Get more real estate with the near bezel-less design, allowing you to see more and do more. The ZeroFrame design lets you place multiple monitors next to each other for a seamless, almost uninterrupted view.
The $2,515 figure is a historical listed price, not a current market value or an inflation-adjusted estimate.

In a 2002 forum post, an owner described a unit as using a Sony Trinitron tube and having a cable that terminated in BNC connectors at the monitor. This is useful identification evidence for that particular example, but it is not an official specification and should not be assumed to apply to every SuperMatch 20-T or STD9752-family monitor.

- Responsive!!: Fast response time of 1ms enhances the experience. A 120Hz refresh rate speeds up the frames per second to deliver smooth 2D motion scenes in gaming and video.

Because the exact input standard, pinout, sync arrangement, and supported timings are not documented for the specific unit in question, the BNC report alone is not enough to recommend an adapter or cable.
How to identify a surviving unit
- Read the rear label. Record the complete model name, suffix, serial number, and any STD9752 or STD9752XL designation.
- Photograph the connectors. Count the BNC sockets and note any separate sync, control, or auxiliary connectors instead of assuming a standard RGB or video layout.
- Check the front badge and chassis markings. SuperMatch, SuperMac, Sony, and variant suffixes may identify different members of the same product family.
- Separate nominal size from visible image size. A “20-inch” CRT does not necessarily display a 20-inch diagonal image.
- Verify timings before connecting modern equipment. The documented 67 Hz use does not establish the safe or supported range for another unit.
What is still unknown?
- No definitive manufacturer specification sheet for the exact SuperMatch 20-T has been established.
- No exact-model service manual or complete horizontal and vertical timing chart has been established.
- The available references do not confirm a universal connector layout, tube manufacturer, maximum resolution, or input-signal standard.
- The relationship between every SuperMatch 20-T label and the STD9752 XL/STD9752XL references remains a qualified model-family cross-reference.
Is the SuperMatch 20-T worth buying today?
It is primarily a historical or collector’s item. Its rarity and Jurassic Park association may make an identified, working example interesting, but the available documentation does not support treating it as a predictable plug-and-play display. A prospective buyer should assess the exact chassis, connectors, condition, included cable, and verified operating behavior of that individual unit rather than relying on the 20-T name alone.
