Des Raj, 30, died after his motorcycle collided with a stationary truck near the vegetable market in Phase 6 Industrial Area, Mohali, on October 1, 2026, according to a report published by Hindustan Times two days later. Police said the truck had no parking lights, indicators, dipper or reflector. The driver was unidentified when the report appeared, and the account described an ongoing investigation rather than a final finding of fault.
What happened in Mohali
Hindustan Times reported that Des Raj, a resident of Badmajra, was returning home after a night shift at a private company in Phase 6 when his motorcycle struck a stationary truck near the vegetable market in Phase 6 Industrial Area. The collision occurred on Wednesday, October 1, 2026.
According to police, as reported by the newspaper, the truck had been left without parking lights, indicators, a dipper or a reflector. The report cited poor visibility as a factor. These are reported circumstances of the crash, not a final determination of responsibility.

Passers-by took Raj to the Phase 6 civil hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival, the report said.

What police were investigating
Phase 1 police registered a case against the unidentified truck driver after a complaint by Raj’s father, Ram Prasad. Hindustan Times reported that police were examining CCTV footage to identify the truck and trace its driver.
At the time of publication on October 3, the driver had not been identified in the report. It did not establish whether the driver was later identified or arrested, or whether a final legal finding was made.
