Mizoram’s Anthurium Festival returned for its 2026 edition on October 1–3, after a three-year hiatus. Held at Ailawng and Reiek in Mamit district, the event paired anthurium displays and grower activities with mountain trails, village visits, Mizo performances, traditional games and local food.
What is Mizoram’s Anthurium Festival?
The Anthurium Festival is a celebration of Mizoram’s anthurium cultivation, landscapes and cultural traditions. The 2026 event was presented by Mizoram Tourism in association with the Government of Mizoram’s Department of Horticulture. Its program was designed as a destination experience, bringing flower shows and nursery visits together with outdoor activities and community events. The October 1, 2026 release from Mizoram Tourism, republished by E-Pao, gives the detailed schedule for that edition.
The Government of India’s Incredible India listing describes the festival generally as a three-day event associated with Reiek Mountain, traditionally scheduled in September or October. That broad description is not a promise that future editions will use the same dates or venues.

The 2026 edition ran October 1–3 at Ailawng and Reiek, both in Mamit district. The Incredible India page lists Reiek Tourist Resort as the venue and October 2026 as the event period; the contemporaneous Mizoram Tourism release confirms that the edition also included Ailawng. The 2026 dates have passed, so anyone planning a future visit should look for the next official announcement rather than assume this schedule will repeat.

What could visitors see and do?
Flowers and cultivation
The horticultural program included flower shows, nursery visits and garden experiences, as well as a visit to the Rose Garden. Anthurium growing is central to the festival’s identity: the 2026 release connects a women-led cultivation movement with the Zo Anthurium Growers Society and says growers supply flowers to markets in India and beyond.

Trails, viewpoints and caves
The release named Ngai Tlang, Ailawng Tlang and Reiek Tlang, along with the Reiek Tlang Sunrise Trek. It also listed trekking and cave exploration at Khuangchera Puk, Thawngpawnga Puk and Ngaitei Puk. These activities were part of the event program; the sources do not specify route difficulty, accessibility or detailed operating hours.

How did the festival connect tourism with local livelihoods?
The festival’s horticultural focus gives growers a visible place in a wider tourism event. Tourism Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar described the intended community benefit this way: “Tourism must create value not only for destinations, but for the people who make those destinations special.” In the same statement, he said the festival brought together horticulture, landscapes, culture and communities, and that visitors using local transport, eating local food, buying from local businesses and meeting growers could help tourism benefits reach beyond the event itself. The quotation appeared in the October 1, 2026 Mizoram Tourism release republished by E-Pao.

That is an official aim, not a measured impact report. The sources do not provide attendance, revenue or other figures showing the festival’s economic outcome.
What should visitors know before planning a later trip?
The 2026 event is over, and the consulted sources do not establish current transport schedules, accommodation availability, accessibility details, opening hours or a festival contact. They also do not establish a final road or traffic advisory: a September preview discussed traffic and road conditions, but does not verify current conditions. Check the next edition’s official announcement for dates, venues and practical arrangements before traveling.
