As of Oct. 2, 2026, Mark Mitchell is ineligible to play for Missouri in the 2026–27 season for now. The Kentucky Court of Appeals dissolved the temporary injunction that had allowed him and other athletes to pursue another season. That appellate action reversed the temporary relief; it was not a final ruling on every underlying eligibility question.
What the October 2 ruling changed
The Kentucky Court of Appeals granted the NCAA’s motion for interlocutory relief and dissolved the Jefferson County Circuit Court’s Aug. 21 order. On3 reported that the appeals court rejected respondents’ argument about the order’s character, stating: “Upon review, we deny the respondents’ motions because the circuit court’s order was indeed a temporary injunction.” The court then wrote: “Having reviewed the record and being otherwise sufficiently advised, the motion for interlocutory relief shall be, and hereby is, GRANTED. The August 21, 2026 Order is DISSOLVED.” On3 quoted the operative language; the NCAA filed its motion on Sept. 1, according to that report.
With the injunction dissolved, the temporary order no longer provides Mitchell a basis to play for Missouri in 2026–27. The report describes him as ineligible again for now. The appellate action concerns temporary relief, so it should not be treated as a final decision resolving every claim about his eligibility.

Could Mitchell become eligible again?
On3 described possible further legal steps, including another motion with the group of athletes, an individual case, or participation in another active case. Those are possibilities, not confirmed filings or guaranteed routes to eligibility. The cited reporting did not verify a later filing or a new order restoring Mitchell’s status. The full underlying appellate document and later docket activity were not independently confirmed in the available accounts.

What Missouri fans should take from the update
The most accurate description is that Mitchell is ineligible for Missouri’s 2026–27 season following the Oct. 2 dissolution of the temporary injunction. The order removes the short-term relief granted in August; it does not, on the information reported, settle every legal question or establish that no further challenge can be brought. Missouri Athletics’ archive separately confirms the June 25 Nuggets signing announcement, but the available reporting does not connect that signing to the appellate court’s decision.
