The 2026 Perseid livestreams have ended, so there is no current real-time broadcast to join. You can watch NASA’s documented YouTube recording of its watch party, which paired observatory views with expert discussion and audience questions. NASA’s event began at midnight ET on August 13, 2026; a separate free Virtual Telescope Project broadcast was scheduled for August 13 at 21:30 UT.

Where can you watch the Perseids online now?

NASA’s 2026 event is available as a recording on the NASA YouTube page. NASA announced the watch party for midnight ET on August 13, with live sky-camera views and expert discussion. Because that date has passed, treat the page as a replay destination rather than a continuing live feed.

The Virtual Telescope Project also scheduled a free online observation from its all-sky camera in Manciano, Italy. It moved the broadcast to August 13 at 21:30 UT because of weather. Its event was separate from NASA’s, and the available event information does not establish that a replay remains accessible.

When did the Perseids peak in 2026?

NASA gave the peak as the night of August 12 into the early morning of August 13. NASA Science lists the shower’s 2026 activity window through August 24. A new Moon around the peak meant darker skies, which helped make fainter meteors easier to see.

What does a Perseid livestream show?

The Perseids are caused by debris from comet 109P/Swift-Tuttle. Their apparent radiant—the point in the sky from which the meteors seem to emerge—is in the constellation Perseus. NASA Science’s 2026 page gives their speed as 37 miles (59 km) per second and says observers can expect about 25 meteors per hour under dark skies.

A camera stream offers a way to follow activity without being outdoors, and NASA’s watch party added scientific context and audience questions. But a recording cannot recreate watching meteors cross your own sky in real time; it also cannot show what conditions are like at your location.

Can you watch the meteor shower online if it is cloudy?

Yes. A livestream can show camera views from its observatory even when your local sky is overcast. Your local weather does not determine whether a remote camera can see meteors, though clouds at the camera site can affect its view. In the Virtual Telescope Project’s case, weather prompted a schedule change. NASA’s recording is an option now that the scheduled events are over.

What is the best way to see the Perseids outdoors?

  1. Find a dark location. Get away from bright lights if you can, and choose a place with a broad view of the sky.
  2. Give your eyes time to adjust. NASA recommends waiting 20–30 minutes in the dark.
  3. Look up and be patient. You do not need a telescope for the basic experience; meteors can appear across the sky, so you do not have to stare only at Perseus.

The 2026 peak has passed. These viewing tips apply when you watch a future Perseid shower, but the peak dates and sky conditions vary by year.
