The Miele WTW870WPM is a premium all-in-one washer-dryer with automatic detergent dosing and steam-care features, but its suitability depends on your local version and whether its smaller drying load and long stated complete-cycle time fit your routine. Capacity is not identical in every market: Miele lists 9 kg washing/6 kg drying in Germany and Hong Kong, and 9 kg/5 kg in Australia.
What the WTW870WPM is—and what this review can establish
This is a single appliance for washing and drying, rather than a washer paired with a separate dryer. Miele’s regional materials describe a WT1 model with features including M Touch controls, TwinDos automatic dosing, SteamCare, PowerWash or QuickPower, CapDosing and AddLoad. The exact function set can vary by market, so confirm it on the local product listing.
The available evidence for this review is manufacturer specification material. It does not establish independent test results for cleaning, drying consistency, noise in real homes, reliability, repair rates or long-term value. Miele’s feature and efficiency claims should therefore be read as manufacturer-published specifications, not independent performance findings.

| Market and source | Wash capacity | Dry capacity | Published context |

| Germany, Miele product listing | 9 kg | 6 kg | Current listing accessed 2026; Miele Germany |
| Hong Kong, Miele specification sheet | 9 kg | 6 kg | Sheet dated 2022-08-10; Miele Hong Kong PDF |
| Australia, Miele product page and specification | 9 kg | 5 kg | Current product materials accessed 2026; Miele Australia product page and specification sheet |
In either configuration, the drying capacity is lower than the washing capacity. A full wash load may need to be split before drying, which can add handling and time. The 9/6 kg and 9/5 kg figures are market-specific ratings, not interchangeable descriptions of every unit bearing this model name.
Energy, water and stated cycle time
Miele Germany’s current listing reports separate wash-only and complete wash-and-dry figures. They describe different cycle bases, so do not compare or quote them as though they refer to the same task.

| German listing measure | Wash only | Complete wash-and-dry |
|---|---|---|
| Energy | 49 kWh per 100 wash cycles | 307 kWh per 100 complete cycles |
| Water | 48 L per wash cycle | 73 L per complete cycle |
| Rated program duration | 199 minutes for the stated wash program | 439 minutes for the stated full wash-and-dry program |
| Energy class | A | D |
These are figures on the German product page, accessed in 2026, and should not be assumed to apply to other regional configurations. The program durations are the listed rated-program times; they do not mean every program or load will take exactly that long. For a household that regularly needs clean, dry laundry quickly, the complete-cycle duration deserves particular attention.

Will it fit your room and delivery route?
For the German version, Miele lists dimensions of 596 mm wide, 850 mm high and 714 mm deep, with a weight of 102 kg. The listed depth with the door open is 1132 mm. The open-door measurement is important if the appliance faces a narrow walkway, cabinet, or door; measure both the installed position and the route it must travel through.
- Measure the available width, height and depth, allowing for hoses and any installation clearances required by the local manual.
- Check that the door can open fully without blocking access or colliding with nearby fixtures.
- Confirm delivery, carrying and installation arrangements locally. At 102 kg in the German specification, access and handling should be settled before purchase.
- Use the exact regional installation manual for electrical and plumbing requirements rather than transferring figures from another market.

TwinDos and the ongoing detergent requirement
TwinDos is Miele’s automatic dosing system and, in the German product information, uses Miele UltraPhase 1 and 2. That makes cartridge availability and recurring replacement cost part of ownership—not just an optional feature to consider at checkout. Verify that compatible cartridges are readily available where you live and check their local price before deciding.
Miele says precise dosing with UltraPhase 1 and 2 can save “up to 30%” detergent. This is Miele’s claim, not an independently verified saving for every household or load. The German page lists a three-cap pack and a voucher for five UltraPhase cartridges among product details; confirm the contents of the specific offer you are buying, since package inclusions may differ.

What the feature list means in practice
- SteamCare: a steam-care function listed for the regional model materials. The specifications do not establish an independent measure of wrinkle reduction or garment-care results.
- PowerWash or QuickPower: these names appear in regional product materials. Check the local listing for the precise cycles and options offered.
- CapDosing and AddLoad: listed functions in the German and Hong Kong materials; confirm availability on the exact local unit.
- M Touch controls, honeycomb drum and ProfiEco motor: included in Miele’s German product information. A feature list alone does not prove superior cleaning or long-term reliability.
The German, Hong Kong and Australian materials do not present an identical list of specifications and functions. Use the product page, manual and material number for the country where you will buy the appliance: Germany, Hong Kong and Australia.
Price, installation and local terms
Miele Germany displayed a price of €2,759 including VAT on its product page accessed in 2026, with delivery costs added and optional service choices available. This is a point-in-time German listing, not a price estimate for other countries or a guarantee of current stock. Check the current local price, delivery charge, installation terms, warranty and return conditions before comparing the total cost with separate appliances.
The Hong Kong specification sheet gives that market’s installation details: 220–240 V, 2.1–2.4 kW, a 13 A fuse, a 1.55 m water-inlet hose, a 1.5 m drain hose and a 2 m power lead. It says not to position the socket behind the appliance. Those are Hong Kong-specific figures; follow the local manual and installer’s requirements elsewhere. Who should consider it?
It may suit you if
- You need one appliance rather than separate washer and dryer footprints.
- Your normal drying loads fit the local 5 kg or 6 kg rating, and you can accept splitting larger wash loads.
- You value automatic detergent dosing and are comfortable checking cartridge supply and ongoing cost.
- You have enough room for the appliance’s depth and door opening, and the local purchase price and service terms work for your budget.
Look elsewhere if
- You routinely need to dry a full 9 kg wash load in one go.
- A long rated complete-cycle time would disrupt your laundry schedule.
- You want independent evidence of this exact model’s cleaning results, drying consistency or long-term reliability before paying a premium; those findings are not established by the cited manufacturer specifications.
- Your room or access route cannot accommodate the local unit and its door swing.
Verdict
The WTW870WPM is most compelling for buyers who prioritize a combined washer-dryer and TwinDos convenience, and whose laundry volume matches the smaller regional drying capacity. It is a harder fit for large loads or time-sensitive drying: the German listing’s complete-cycle rating is 439 minutes, and drying capacity is 5 or 6 kg depending on market. Confirm the exact SKU, local energy and water figures, physical fit, consumable costs and purchase terms before committing. The available evidence supports a specification-based assessment, not a conclusion about independently tested performance or reliability.
