The Miele WTR870WPM is a premium washer-dryer that combines washing and drying in one appliance, with TwinDos automatic detergent dosing, SteamCare and touch controls. Its biggest practical trade-off is capacity: it can wash more laundry than it can dry in one cycle. Specifications also differ by market, so confirm the exact local model before buying.
What the WTR870WPM is—and who it suits
The WTR870WPM is part of Miele’s WT1 washer-dryer range. One appliance handles both jobs, avoiding the need to move wet laundry between a washer and a separate dryer. That arrangement can be useful where floor space is limited or a simpler laundry workflow matters more than processing large loads quickly.
The trade-off is throughput. Drying capacity is lower than washing capacity, so a full wash load may need to be split before drying. Households that regularly process several large loads a day should compare this format with separate appliances or a washer-dryer offering greater drying capacity. Miele’s washer-dryer guidance likewise notes that its washer-dryers generally dry less than they wash.
WTR870WPM specifications vary by market
Do not treat every WTR870WPM listing as having identical capacity or installation dimensions. Miele’s German product listing and EU product information sheet describe an 8 kg wash / 5 kg wash-and-dry model. Miele Australia’s specification sheet gives 8 kg washing and 4 kg combined wash-and-dry capacity. Check the regional product sheet and installation information for the exact unit being sold.

The similar name WTW870WPM belongs to another model. A Hong Kong specification for that variant lists different capacity and dimensions; those figures should not be used to describe the WTR870WPM.
How the main features affect day-to-day use
TwinDos automatic dosing
Miele describes TwinDos as an automatic two-component detergent system. It is a convenience feature rather than evidence, by itself, of better cleaning results. Check which TwinDos-compatible detergent cartridges are available for the model and market you are considering.

SteamCare, PowerWash and QuickPower Wash
Miele lists SteamCare on the WTR870WPM, while the Australian specification also names PowerWash and QuickPower Wash. These are programme and care features; the available options depend on the regional model documentation. The specifications do not establish independent performance results for them.

M Touch is listed for the German model documentation. AddLoad is among the listed features in manufacturer materials. These are useful points to check against the local version’s control panel and programme guide, rather than assuming every regional listing includes precisely the same feature set.

The Miele EU product information sheet for the 8 kg wash / 5 kg wash-and-dry version, issued under Regulation (EU) 2019/2014, reports the following figures. They apply to the stated programmes and regulatory conditions; they are not universal estimates for every load or household.

Compare these figures with another appliance only when the region, capacity, programme and regulatory test regime match. In particular, wash-only energy and combined wash-and-dry energy describe different jobs.

Washer-dryer or separate washer and dryer?
The central choice is compactness and convenience versus drying throughput. A single appliance occupies one appliance footprint and avoids transferring laundry, but the lower drying capacity can add time and handling when a household washes more than it can dry at once. Separate machines take more space and require a transfer, but may be a better fit for busy households that want to wash and dry different loads in parallel. Miele’s category guidance also says separate appliances may suit larger or busier households.

For a useful comparison, look at the dry load your household typically produces, how often you need to run back-to-back loads, the available installation space, and the energy and cycle figures for comparable programmes. The WTR870WPM’s features do not remove the capacity constraint.

What the available evidence does—and does not—show
Miele’s German product page says WT1 washer-dryer models and core components were tested during development with 5,000 wash runs and 4,000 drying runs. Miele also states that this does not guarantee the durability of the finished products. Those development figures should not be read as a lifespan estimate, warranty promise or independent reliability result.
The available specifications support a feature- and capacity-based assessment, not a claim that the WTR870WPM has been independently tested against competing appliances. They also do not establish a current street price or long-term repair and reliability record. Check current local availability and pricing separately, and verify the exact model suffix before ordering.
