The Miele Classic C1 EcoLine 12396460 is a discontinued, bagged canister vacuum with 550 W stated power and HyClean GN bags. CHOICE’s exact-model page lists 8.4 m reach and 5.92 kg weight, while Miele’s January 2019 catalogue gives a 9 m operating radius and a 4.5 L bag capacity. Those figures come from different sources and measurement contexts. If you are considering a used or remaining-stock unit, check its condition, included tools and bag compatibility; the available review page does not reveal enough test scores to establish how well it cleans.
What the exact-model review establishes
CHOICE identifies the product as the Miele Classic C1 Ecoline 12396460, marks it discontinued and lists Germany as its country of origin. Its page displays a $479 price and $9.75 per bag, but does not show when those prices were recorded. Treat them as page-listed historical context, not current offers or verified replacement-bag pricing. CHOICE’s exact-model page
The two sources report reach differently. CHOICE gives 8.4 m reach from the power point; Miele’s January 2019 Slovenian catalogue lists a 9 m operating radius. These are attributed figures, not interchangeable measurements. CHOICE reports a measured weight of 5.92 kg and measured dust-collector volume of 2 L. The catalogue lists a 4.5 L HyClean GN bag. The available material does not explain the difference between the dust-collector and bag-capacity figures, so they should not be treated as the same measurement.

- GERMAN ENGINEERED: Bagged canister vacuum cleaner ideal for homes with hard floors and low-medium pile carpeting
- STRONG SUCTION POWER: Switch between 6 suction power settings specific to the surface being cleaned
- MAXIMUM MANEUVERABILITY: Vacuum easily around and underneath furniture, or use the clipped on accessories to clean upholstery or hard to reach places
- AIRCLEAN SYSTEM: Miele's unique 3-tiered filtration system consists of a genuine Miele FilterBag, Motor Protection Filter and AirClean Exhaust Filter. The room air is cleaner after vacuuming than before
- INCLUDED ACCESSORIES: STB 305-3 TurboTeQ Floorhead, SBB Parquet-3 Floorhead, Dusting Brush, Crevice Tool and Upholstery Tool
CHOICE lists two extension wands, a hose, a carpet/hard-floor tool, crevice tool, upholstery tool, dusting brush and tool holders as supplied items. On a used unit, confirm which of these are actually present; an advertised standard kit does not establish what a particular seller has retained.
Cleaning performance: what can and cannot be concluded
The available CHOICE page displays several results as members-only, including pet-hair removal, corners and edges, noise, reliability and satisfaction. Without the numerical scores, it is not possible to make a supported claim that this model excels—or performs poorly—on those measures. The catalogue’s carpet and hard-floor classes provide product-specification context, not a substitute for the hidden independent test results.

For a buying decision, look for a hands-on demonstration or independent results for the surfaces you have. In particular, assess pickup on your carpet type and hard floors, edge cleaning, noise, and whether the supplied floorhead suits your needs. Do not infer those outcomes from wattage alone.

The EcoLine catalogue specifies HyClean GN bags. CHOICE lists $9.75 per bag on its page, with no publication date shown; it is not a verified current cost. Miele’s current Classic C1 family information also lists GN bags, but that does not prove every Classic C1 variant uses the same consumable. Before ordering, check the bag designation on the vacuum’s label or in its manual and search for Miele HyClean GN vacuum bags. Miele provides a consumables finder for bags and filters.

Budget for recurring bags when evaluating a used vacuum, and inspect whether the bag compartment, seals, hose and floorhead are intact. The evidence here does not establish filter replacement intervals or current parts prices for this exact discontinued model.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is a used or remaining-stock 12396460 worth considering?
It may suit someone seeking a conventional bagged canister vacuum who can verify the unit’s condition and source the correct GN consumables. The evidence supports its basic configuration and several attributed specifications, but not a complete performance verdict. Because it is listed as discontinued, current new-stock availability should be checked with the seller rather than assumed.

- Confirm the model number is 12396460, not another Classic C1 variant.
- Check the actual accessories, cord, hose, wand, floorhead, bag compartment and seals.
- Verify GN bag compatibility on the unit or in its manual before buying consumables.
- Compare the asking price with the unit’s condition and the cost of bags and any missing tools.
- Ask for a demonstration on your flooring if cleaning performance is decisive.
Do not transfer specifications from other Classic C1 models to this EcoLine. For example, Miele’s current Classic C1 specification sheet in the available materials concerns a different 800 W variant, not the 12396460 EcoLine: Miele specification sheet. Current family pages can provide context, but they do not establish this discontinued model’s present availability or exact configuration.
