Indie developer Petipois says he folded Radar, his game-trailer discovery tool, into Scout after realizing that he was repeating work across several apps. His goal was to bring creator outreach, trailer discovery and capsule-artist discovery into one place—not to claim a measured boost in productivity.
Why did Petipois merge Radar into Scout?
In a DEV Community post published September 10, 2026, Petipois described himself as an indie hacker and solo game developer who builds tools to solve his own problems. Radar began as a way to search for a game title and find short videos for inspiration; he later added trailers. As he built several apps around a credit system, he noticed that he was repeating similar work and decided to merge Radar fully into Scout.
The post explains the decision in terms of overlapping work, but does not detail the underlying architecture, migration process, or whether Radar users preferred the change. It is an account of one developer’s reasoning, not a general rule that small tools should always be combined.

Petipois describes Scout as a hub for indie-game marketing and discovery, with three areas:

Those are the features described in the post; their current availability was not independently established. The account presents the consolidation as a way to reduce tab switching for indie developers. Petipois wrote, “Merging these features lets indie devs spend less time juggling tabs and more time building and marketing games.” That is the intended benefit, not a measured result: the post reports no before-and-after time data, user study, adoption figure, or revenue outcome.
What the story does—and does not—show
The useful takeaway is specific: Petipois saw repeated work among his apps and chose to put related workflows in Scout. The post does not establish that the merger improved retention, revenue, reliability, or development speed, or that every user benefited from having the features in one product. It also offers no product comparison or independent performance data.

For other developers weighing a similar choice, the account suggests a question rather than a universal answer: are you rebuilding the same capability across tools, or are separate products serving genuinely different workflows? Petipois explains why he consolidated his own tools, but leaves those broader trade-offs—and the outcome of the merger—unmeasured.
