Michael Douglas’s memoir reportedly says he and Romancing the Stone co-star Kathleen Turner began a relationship during the film’s 1984 production in Mexico. Douglas was still married to his first wife, Diandra Luker, but was separated from her at the time, according to The Independent.
What did Michael Douglas say about Kathleen Turner?
In One Helluva Ride, Douglas reportedly recounts that he and Turner “fell hard for each other and began a relationship” while making Romancing the Stone. The Daily Beast quoted that sentence from the memoir in its October 2, 2026 report.
The same report says Douglas wrote that their long-standing public account that nothing happened was untrue: “That was a lie. It was a lie meant to protect my wife and son, a lie we told the world for 40 years.” These are quotations attributed to Douglas’s memoir by the publication; they are not an on-camera confession, and the memoir text has not been independently checked here.

Was Michael Douglas married when the relationship began?
Yes. Douglas was still married to Diandra Luker, his first wife, but was separated from her, according to The Independent’s October 2, 2026 report. “Married but separated” is the relevant context; the reports do not describe him as living with Luker at the time.

What is the memoir called?
The memoir is titled One Helluva Ride. The Associated Press announced in March 2026 that Douglas planned an October memoir release, describing it as untitled at that point; later reporting identifies the title. The earlier description reflects what was known at the time, not a conflicting title. The Associated Press announcement did not establish an exact on-sale date, which has not been verified here.
