Michael B. Jordan is attached to produce a planned Battlefield film and could also star, but his casting is not confirmed. As of TheWrap’s October 2, 2026 report, Sony Pictures had emerged as the frontrunner to land the project and was in talks; no completed studio deal had been reported.
What is the proposed Battlefield movie?
It is a reported film adaptation of Electronic Arts’ Battlefield video game franchise. The coverage does not identify a particular game installment as the film’s source, nor does it establish that the movie will adapt the story, characters, or setting of Battlefield 6.

TheWrap reported the project was being taken to studios in April 2026. Its October 2 update said five companies had submitted bids: Warner Bros. Discovery, Amazon MGM Studios, Sony, Universal, and Netflix. Sony was then the frontrunner and in talks to land the package, not a confirmed buyer. TheWrap’s October 2 report is the latest cited account of those negotiations.
Who is attached, and what roles are confirmed?
Christopher McQuarrie
TheWrap reports that McQuarrie is attached to write, direct, and produce the film.

Michael B. Jordan
Jordan is reported as a producer and a potential star. His acting role depends on whether he takes it; the cited reports do not confirm that he will appear on screen. ComicBook.com’s October 2 article also notes that Jordan is starring in and directing The Thomas Crown Affair, which it lists for March 5, 2027. That does not establish Battlefield as his next acting project. ComicBook.com’s report describes the casting as conditional.
Other reported producers
TheWrap names Electronic Arts producer Jesse Stern, Carter Swan of Emerald Neon, Roy Lee and Miri Yoon of Vertigo, and Elizabeth Raposo of Outlier Society as producers. These are details attributed to trade reporting, not a public studio announcement.

Which Battlefield game will it adapt?
That has not been established. TheWrap describes the franchise as spanning settings from Vietnam to the far future and notes that the first game, Battlefield 1942, launched for PC and Mac in 2002. EA’s official Battlefield 6 page lists it as a current game and describes it as an all-out warfare experience. Neither source says the film is specifically based on Battlefield 6.

EA says Battlefield Studios brings together four studios across two continents and draws on more than 20 years of franchise experience. That is EA’s description of its development organization, not confirmation of the movie’s creative direction. EA’s Battlefield Studios overview provides that company context.

What has not been announced?
- No Jordan casting confirmation.
- No specific game installment, plot, characters, or setting.
- No production start date or film release date.
- No completed Sony acquisition in the cited October 2 coverage.
TheWrap also reported that Battlefield 6 outsold Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 in U.S. sales during 2025, describing it as the first annual U.S. sales win for an EA shooter over Activision’s shooter. That is TheWrap’s account; the cited material does not include an underlying sales chart or dataset for independent verification.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How does it compare with the Call of Duty movie?
The two projects are separate game-franchise adaptations. TheWrap reports McQuarrie and Jordan’s contingent involvement with Battlefield; the cited coverage describes the Call of Duty film as a Paramount project involving Taylor Sheridan and Peter Berg, with a June 30, 2028 release date reported by TheWrap. That date applies to Call of Duty, not Battlefield, and does not imply a release window for Jordan’s proposed film.
