No—the Miami Heat are not permanently changing their team name to “Vice City Heat.” The team plans to play one home game as “Vice City” on November 18, 2026, in a Grand Theft Auto VI-themed event called A Night in Vice City.
What is A Night in Vice City?
The Miami Heat plan to transform Kaseya Center for their November 18, 2026, home game against the Milwaukee Bucks. The announced promotion includes a new uniform, a themed court design and fan activations. The team described it as “A Night in Vice City,” saying it would “transform the Kaseya Center into Vice City — showcasing the Miami-inspired setting of Grand Theft Auto VI — for a first-of-its-kind sports crossover experience,” according to Axios.
That makes “Vice City” a one-game identity for the event, not a reported permanent franchise rename. The announced date is November 18 at Kaseya Center; event details may change, so check the team’s latest announcements closer to game night.

How does the game connect to GTA VI?
The Heat game is scheduled for November 18, one day before GTA VI’s currently listed release date of November 19, 2026. Xbox’s GTA VI listing names Rockstar Games as the developer and publisher and gives the November 19 date.

Vice City is a fictional setting in the game, not a real Miami neighborhood or an alternate name for the Heat. Rockstar’s official GTA VI page places Vice City in the fictional state of Leonida.
Are the event jerseys for sale?
The announced November 18 uniform has not been shown in the reviewed listings, and its availability for purchase has not been confirmed. Do not mistake it for the Heat’s existing Vice merchandise.

The official Miami HEAT Store’s Vice City collection lists themed apparel such as tees, caps and hoodies. The store also has a separate collection of existing Vice jerseys. These are distinct from the newly announced game-night uniform; stock and listings can change.
What are the “Welcome to Vice City” signs at the arena?
CBS Miami reported on September 22, 2026, that a large “Welcome to Vice City” display had been installed on Kaseya Center’s roof. The report said it was not immediately clear what agreement covered the rooftop promotion. That display and the November 18 game-night event are separate reported details; the available information does not establish that they share the same terms. Is the airport also becoming Vice City Airport?
No airport rebranding is confirmed by the Heat announcement. A September 3, 2026, Miami-Dade County statement records Commissioner Juan Carlos Bermudez and Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz opposing a reported possibility of temporarily renaming Miami International Airport “Vice City Airport.” That is a separate county-level discussion, not a change to the Heat’s name or confirmation that an airport plan went ahead. Bermudez’s statement was: “Miami-Dade County is not Vice City.”
