Deep Silver says Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux will receive free next-gen updates for existing owners: October 22, 2026, on PC and October 29, 2026, on consoles. The publisher describes them as enhancements to the Redux games—not full remasters or remakes—and says the updates preserve their original experience and aesthetic.
When the Metro Redux updates arrive
Deep Silver’s announced schedule is October 22, 2026, for PC and October 29, 2026, for consoles. These dates are still upcoming as of October 3, 2026.
Who gets the update for free?
Deep Silver says the updates are free for existing owners of both Redux games on Steam, Epic Games Store, Windows Store, GOG, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The announcement does not clarify whether owning the PS4 or Xbox One version qualifies for an update on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S; check the publisher’s or platform’s eligibility instructions when they are available.
What changes in the updates?
The announced improvements include 4K textures on all platforms, improved animation fidelity, higher-quality audio, richer environmental detail, community-led bug fixes, and quality-of-life changes. Deep Silver also lists runtime hardware tessellation and displacement, but has not published full patch notes or a complete platform-by-platform feature matrix.

This is the feature list in the announcement, not a guarantee that every listed feature applies to every console model. Deep Silver says full patch notes will provide platform-specific technical details at launch. The announcement does not establish exact resolution modes for each model, PC system requirements, or download sizes.
What “next-gen” means for resolution and performance
Deep Silver says consoles can offer “true 4K at 60FPS” or “upscaled 4K at 120FPS” with the right monitor or TV hardware. That is the publisher’s description; it does not provide a model-by-model breakdown of those modes in the announcement.

These are enhancements, not full remasters
Deep Silver says the updates preserve the Redux experience and aesthetic while adding improvements for modern PC and console hardware. The company has not described them as full remasters or remakes. The announcement also says the METRO franchise has sold 50 million copies worldwide; that figure is the publisher’s reported milestone, not an independently audited total.
