Meta and Oakley announced their Oakley Meta AI glasses on Friday, June 20, 2025. The first model, Oakley Meta HSTN, debuted at Fanatics Fest that day, but June 20 was not the preorder date: Meta scheduled limited-edition HSTN preorders to begin July 11, 2025.
Did Meta and Oakley launch AI glasses on June 20?
They announced the Oakley Meta line on June 20, 2025, and introduced HSTN as its first model. Meta described the event as the debut of a new “Performance AI glasses” line combining Oakley design with Meta technology. The HSTN name is pronounced “HOW-stuhn.”
The announcement, preorder and later collection availability were separate milestones. Meta said the limited-edition HSTN would be available for preorder starting July 11, 2025, while the rest of the collection would start at $399 USD and arrive later that summer. Those are historical launch plans and prices, not a statement of current stock or pricing. Meta’s June 20, 2025 announcement has the original schedule.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How does HSTN differ from the later Oakley Meta Vanguard?
Vanguard is a separate, later model, not the product announced on June 20. Meta introduced Oakley Meta Vanguard on September 17, 2025, for high-intensity sports, with Garmin and Strava integrations and IP67 dust and water resistance. Meta announced a $499 price before an October 21 launch. The announcements describe different intended uses and product features, but do not establish an independent performance winner.
