The claims about “Lucy Audrey” come from a 2023 account by writer Matthew Giannelis; the available sources do not independently verify that the profile was fake, identify who operated it, or establish its current status. Giannelis says he reported the profile and Facebook declined to act. Facebook’s published guidance says it removes reported material when it finds a Community Standards violation, and some decisions can be sent for another review.
What the 2023 account alleges
In an October 2023 article, Giannelis described a Facebook profile using the name “Lucy Audrey.” He says the profile listed Faisalabad, Pakistan, used a stock-photo image, and described itself with male pronouns. Those are the author’s observations, not independently verified facts about the profile or its operator. HackerNoon’s account and a longer Tech Business News account are by the same writer, so they are not separate corroboration.
Giannelis says he reported the profile and received a response within two or three minutes stating, “We won’t be taking any action.” The account does not include a verifiable report record, and the response’s timing does not establish whether it was automated. The sources also do not show what Facebook reviewed or whether the profile remains active.

Giannelis also says he paid $10 to an SEO-service intermediary for a blog placement, which disappeared within a month. He says the website owner told him the intermediary had not paid for the placement, and he characterizes the episode as fraud. The available sources do not include a statement from that site owner, a payment record, or an adjudication of the dispute. They do not establish that the profile’s operator was legally found responsible for fraud.

Why Facebook may leave reported material up
Facebook Help Center guidance says, “We’ll remove content if we find that it goes against our Community Standards.” Its explanation of why Facebook may not remove reported content describes decisions based on those standards; a reporter’s belief that an account is fake does not by itself guarantee removal. The guidance explains the platform’s general process, not the reasoning behind the decision described by Giannelis.
Facebook says users can check a report’s status in Support Inbox. If the platform decides the reported material does not violate its standards, it says it will notify the reporter. For some decisions, the reporter can request another review; that option is not described as available in every case.

What to do if Facebook rejects your report
- Check the decision: Open Facebook’s Support Inbox and review the status and details of the report.
- Request another review if offered: Use “Request another review” when that option appears. The Help Center guidance does not promise a different outcome.
- Keep relevant details: Save the report information and any case-specific evidence that helps explain the concern. Do not treat the 2023 account as proof of how Facebook handled a separate report.
Protect your own account separately
If your concern is that someone has taken over your account, Facebook directs users to its account recovery guidance. Its Account Security guidance lists features including login alerts, two-factor authentication, and security keys. A hardware security key can help protect access to your own account; it does not verify another profile’s identity or make Facebook remove it.
