Arduino’s March 27, 2026 announcement introduced seven additions to the UNO Q ecosystem. The most distinct are the UNO Media Carrier for camera, display, and audio connections; Bug Hopper for USB-to-UART serial debugging; and the UNO Breakout Carrier for access to signals on labeled headers. They solve different problems, and none should be mistaken for a general-purpose standalone replacement for a host board.
What Arduino announced
Arduino’s March 2026 lineup comprised seven products: three UNO Q carriers or tools, three USB-C accessories, and one Modulino node. The Arduino Team described the announcement as “a new product… or seven!” in its March 27 announcement.
| Product | Role |
|---|---|
| UNO Media Carrier | Camera, display, and audio expansion for a host board |
| Bug Hopper | USB-to-UART serial debugging and logging |
| UNO Breakout Carrier | Access to signals through labeled headers for wiring and measurement |
| Arduino USB-C Power Supply (45W) | USB-C power accessory |
| Arduino USB-C Cable (24 pin) | USB-C cable accessory |
| Arduino USB-C Hub (8 in 1) | Port expansion, including HDMI, Ethernet, multiple USB ports, and power passthrough |
| Modulino LED Matrix | 8 × 12 visual output for animations, feedback, or notifications |
Arduino said in March 2026 that the LED Matrix was the twelfth Modulino node, following 11 earlier nodes. That is a dated announcement count, not a guarantee of the family’s current total. Regional availability can change: on October 4, 2026, the US store’s new-products listing showed the UNO Media Carrier and BugHopper as products and labeled the UNO Breakout Carrier “Coming Soon.” Check the US listing for that market’s latest status.
What does the Arduino UNO Media Carrier do?
The UNO Media Carrier adds interfaces for cameras, a display, and audio to a compatible host board. It connects through the JMEDIA and JMISC high-speed connectors and provides passthrough so signals remain available to additional modules. Arduino’s Media Carrier documentation lists UNO Q and VENTUNO Q as host-board use cases.

- Three 3.5 mm audio jacks: combined microphone input/headphone output, line out, and ear out
Arduino gives stereo depth mapping, multi-angle image capture, object tracking, and interactive display-and-audio projects as intended application examples. These describe possible project directions, not independently measured performance results.
Which camera or display works with it?
Arduino documents IMX219 cameras, including Raspberry Pi Camera Module 2, as examples for the MIPI-CSI connection, and Waveshare displays as examples for MIPI-DSI. That does not establish compatibility with every camera or display from those brands. Before choosing a peripheral, verify its exact model, connector, interface, lane count where applicable, and electrical requirements against the carrier documentation.

How do you debug an Arduino UNO Q?
For a USB-to-UART serial connection, Arduino describes Bug Hopper as a compact debugging board that connects through UNO Q’s JCTL connector. Its FT230XQ-R FTDI bridge provides a serial link to a development computer for debugging and logging. It is a serial-debugging tool, not a universal JTAG debugger.

Choose it when the need is serial access through JCTL; it does not provide the broad signal-header access of the Breakout Carrier.

What is the difference between the UNO Media Carrier and Breakout Carrier?
The Media Carrier is for connecting media peripherals. The Breakout Carrier is for reaching a wider range of UNO Q signals through labeled standard headers. Arduino’s Breakout Carrier documentation lists audio, I2C, SPI, UART, PWM, PSSI, GPIO, power rails, and control signals. Arduino positions it for prototyping custom circuits, attaching measurement equipment, troubleshooting, and checking signals.
| Choose | When the main job is |
|---|---|
| UNO Media Carrier | Adding camera, display, or audio connections |
| Bug Hopper | Serial debugging or logging to a development computer through JCTL |
| UNO Breakout Carrier | Wiring to signals, prototyping, or measurement and troubleshooting |
Which other accessories are useful?
The 45 W multi-plug USB-C power supply, 24-pin USB-C cable, and 8-in-1 USB-C hub round out the announcement as power and connectivity accessories, rather than carriers or debugging hardware. The hub includes HDMI, Ethernet, multiple USB ports, and power passthrough. Check the host board’s power requirements before selecting a supply; the announcement’s wattage alone does not establish suitability for every setup. Regional product prices and availability are not fixed by the March announcement.
