Me Token was presented as a token-based layer for fashion discovery and social commerce, connected to Style Me’s virtual fitting-room technology and consumer app. In a 2018 ChipIn interview, Style Me CEO Rufus Parkinson described a model in which people could post looks, tag clothing for shoppers to explore and buy, and earn tokens through activity. The interview records what the project planned and claimed at the time; it does not establish that Me Token or its proposed features are available today.

What were Style Me and Me Token?

The interview described two related but distinct offerings. Style Me began as retailer-facing virtual fitting-room technology, while Me Token was presented as a consumer-oriented fashion discovery and commerce concept that would build on that technology.

Offering Intended audience Purpose described in the interview Evidence status
Style Me fitting-room service Retailers and their online shoppers A white-label ecommerce service for virtual try-on, fit suggestions and outfit visualization The interview said the service was active online at the time and reported Pam & Gela as a live brand. That is a historical claim, not confirmation of current operation or integrations.
Me Token concept Fashion shoppers and creators A social platform for posting and discovering looks, with token rewards and shoppable clothing posts The interview discussed a mix of proposed functions and rollout plans. It does not establish which launched or remain available.

Parkinson characterized the fitting-room service as a business-to-business-to-consumer product: retailers would offer Style Me through their ecommerce sites, and shoppers would use it there. Me Token was described as the consumer-facing social layer, not simply another name for the retailer software.

How was Me Token supposed to work?

  1. Post a fashion look. A user would share an outfit or fashion content with the community.
  2. Make clothing in the post shoppable. The creator could tag an item so a viewer could open product details and a purchase option.
  3. Engage and earn rewards. The interview described token rewards connected to user activity, engagement and sales. It also discussed opt-in brand messages and the possibility of paid styling advice.
  4. Use the Style Me app or web version. The interview said people could acquire or spend tokens through the app or web version, including in connection with buying clothes, or hold tokens as an investment.

These steps describe the proposed model in the interview, not a verified present-day user flow. The source does not confirm that users can currently earn, buy, spend or trade Me Tokens, nor does it establish a current token value or investment use.

What benefits did the project claim for shoppers, creators and brands?

For shoppers

The concept aimed to connect fashion inspiration to product discovery: a viewer could see a look, inspect tagged clothing and move toward a purchase. Style Me’s virtual try-on and fit suggestions were presented as ways to help online shoppers visualize clothing. The interview’s description is not independent evidence that these features improved fit, reduced returns or produced better shopping outcomes.

For creators

Creators were meant to earn tokens through activity and potentially sales generated by tagged items. The interview also raised paid styling advice as a possible way to monetize expertise. These were described as features or possibilities, not demonstrated earnings or confirmed compensation terms.

For brands

The proposed social layer offered brands a way to surface products through creator content and engage users through opt-in messaging. Parkinson also argued that emerging brands could respond quickly to trends, saying, “Emerging brands can spot new trends and adopt them fairly quickly, and within only a few weeks increase their market share.” That is Parkinson’s claim in the interview, not a verified result or general guarantee.

What did the 2018 rollout plans say—and what can be confirmed?

The interview laid out an ambitious timeline: a closed-community soft launch in August 2018, wider access in Q4 2018, and fitting-room and video capabilities by Q2 2019. It also anticipated additional retailer brands going live after the interview’s reported Pam & Gela integration. These statements were forecasts made at the time, not confirmation that the milestones were met.

The source is a founder-side interview published around 2018. It does not establish current company status, whether the app or integrations still operate, whether the token was issued or listed on an exchange, or whether planned functions became available. Its statements about conversions, returns, micro-influencers and market opportunity are not supported there by an independently attributable study, so they should not be treated as established industry statistics.

What is the clearest way to understand the idea?

Me Token’s central proposition was to make fashion social content directly actionable: a creator could share an outfit, link its clothing to product information and a purchase path, and potentially receive rewards. Style Me supplied the separate virtual fitting-room idea for retailers’ ecommerce experiences. The interview is useful as a record of that proposed strategy, but it cannot establish the project’s current availability, token utility or realized business results.
