Matter and Aliro solve different smart-lock problems: Matter connects a lock to a compatible smart-home platform, while Aliro lets supported phones or wearables act as digital keys. ULTRALOQ says all three locks in its September 25, 2026 launch are Matter Certified; only Bolt Pro and Latch 5 Pro are identified as Aliro certified. The two certifications are complementary, not interchangeable.
How do Matter and Aliro work together?
Matter is the smart-home connectivity and control layer. A supported lock can join a compatible smart-home system, such as Apple Home or Google Home, for the functions that the lock and platform support. Aliro is a digital-access layer: it provides a common way for a smartphone or wearable to present a credential to a reader or access-control system.
In practical terms, Matter connects the lock to your smart home; Aliro enables a supported digital key to unlock it. A lock can support one standard without supporting the other. ULTRALOQ’s launch announcement lists Matter certification for Bolt Mission, Bolt Pro, and Latch 5 Pro, but Aliro certification only for Bolt Pro and Latch 5 Pro. ULTRALOQ’s September 25, 2026 announcement is the source for these model-specific claims.

Aliro is intended to make digital access work across compatible credentials, readers, and access-control systems, rather than tying the idea of a digital key to a single manufacturer’s approach. Depending on the certified product and supported wallet, a person may be able to tap a phone or wearable to a lock to authorize entry.

UL Solutions’ April 10, 2026 announcement describes Aliro 1.0 as defining how smartphones, wearables, readers, and access-control systems interact. Its testing services cover NFC, Bluetooth Low Energy, and Bluetooth Low Energy combined with ultra-wideband (UWB). That describes the standard’s testing scope; it does not establish that UL Solutions tested the three ULTRALOQ locks discussed here.
Wallet access is not universal just because a lock is Aliro certified. Check that the specific lock, phone or wearable, and wallet service support the credential and entry method you intend to use. ULTRALOQ’s May 4, 2026 announcement describes Samsung Wallet tap-to-unlock on Aliro-certified ULTRALOQ locks, but that is not a claim that every wallet or device works with every model.

How the three ULTRALOQ models differ
The September 25 announcement describes three form factors and entry approaches. The features and certifications below are manufacturer claims, not independent test results or hands-on findings.

The distinction matters most if hands-free arrival is your priority: Bolt Mission is described around UWB and presence sensing, but the launch announcement does not assign it Aliro support. If you specifically want Aliro wallet access, the announcement names Bolt Pro and Latch 5 Pro.

Which lock and standard fit your needs?
- Choose by door hardware first. Bolt Pro is a deadbolt; Latch 5 Pro is a lever-style lock intended for doors where that hardware is appropriate. Confirm the lock type and physical fit for your door before choosing based on software features.
- Choose by the way you want to enter. Bolt Mission is positioned for hands-free approach-to-unlock. Bolt Pro and Latch 5 Pro list Aliro wallet access, while their other listed methods differ. Do not assume a feature on one model appears on the others.
- Choose Matter for smart-home integration. All three models are stated to be Matter Certified, but the platforms and functions available for a particular model should be verified in current documentation for the lock and your smart-home system.
- Verify the wallet and device. Aliro certification alone does not mean every phone, watch, or wallet is supported. Check the exact combination you plan to use.
- Decide whether a physical-key fallback matters. ULTRALOQ lists physical-key backup for Bolt Pro. The launch announcement does not list that feature for the other two models.
Does Matter require a hub for these locks?
ULTRALOQ’s Matter guidance says a Matter-over-Thread device needs a Thread-enabled Matter Controller to integrate with a third-party ecosystem. Examples on its page include Apple TV 4K, HomePod mini, Echo, Nest Hub, SmartThings hubs, and Home Assistant Yellow. However, the product launch announcement does not confirm compatibility with a specific controller for each of the three new locks. Check the current documentation for the exact model and ecosystem before buying a hub.
ULTRALOQ says Bolt Mission needs no separate hub for its hands-free entry feature. That statement concerns that feature; it should not be read as saying no controller is needed for every Matter integration. See ULTRALOQ’s Matter guidance for its controller note.

What the announcements establish—and what they do not
ULTRALOQ’s September 25, 2026 announcement gives the model-specific feature and certification claims. Its May 4 announcement describes Aliro and Matter as complementary and discusses Samsung Wallet integration. UL Solutions’ April 10 announcement explains Aliro 1.0 and its testing technologies. These sources support the distinction between smart-home connectivity and digital credentials, but they are not independent performance tests of the new locks.
ULTRALOQ’s launch announcement lists suggested retail prices of $299.99 for Bolt Mission, $269.99 for Bolt Pro, and $249.99 for Latch 5 Pro. These are time-sensitive manufacturer-stated prices; confirm current pricing and availability before purchasing.
