The reported percentage depends on when each outlet captured the price. Bloomberg Law said shares rose as much as 36% during the session and were up 23% at $15.53 at about 2:40 p.m. New York time on October 1. A CNBC-carrying report published October 2 described a nearly 20% rise on Thursday. These are different intraday snapshots, not a single confirmed closing gain. Is Authentic Brands Group buying Mattel?
That has not been established. The reports described interest and preliminary discussions; none of the cited sources confirmed a signed agreement, an accepted offer, or a completed transaction. Mattel’s leadership change is a separate development
Mattel announced on September 30 that Roger Lynch, then a board member and Condé Nast CEO, would become chairman effective October 2 and CEO on or before November 2.
