The Makerfabs MaTouch ESP32-S3 7.5-inch Quad-Color E-Ink board (SKU MAEI75C) combines an 800×480, four-color e-paper display with a microphone array, camera input and motion sensor. It is a development board for projects such as displaying camera captures or browsing microSD images with voice commands—not a touchscreen or a fast-refresh animation display.
What the MaTouch board is
Makerfabs identifies the product as the MaTouch ESP32-S3 7.5-inch Quad-Color E-Ink ePaper board; its wiki uses the model name Matouch_7.5_Eink. The integrated design brings the display and supporting components onto one development board. Its documented examples show image capture and voice-controlled image browsing. Display: large, color e-paper with a slow full refresh
The panel measures 7.5 inches diagonally and has an 800×480 resolution. Makerfabs documents four display colors: black, white, red and yellow. The wiki identifies the panel as KEGM075004E05, driven by a JD79665 controller over SPI through a 24-pin FPC. Its active area is 163.2×97.92 mm, with a 0.204 mm pixel pitch.

Makerfabs lists a full refresh time of about 20 seconds. That makes the panel better suited to content that changes occasionally—such as a status screen, image viewer or dashboard—than to animation or frequent updates. The product listing describes the screen as daylight readable and says it retains its image without power; these are manufacturer claims, not independently measured results. The wiki gives an operating range of 0°C to 40°C and a storage range of −25°C to 60°C. Makerfabs wiki · Makerfabs product listing

What the documented examples do
Show a camera image
Makerfabs’ camera example initializes the camera and display, captures a frame, converts the image to fit the screen’s resolution and color format, and refreshes the e-paper panel. It demonstrates a still-image workflow; the listed full refresh time makes it unsuitable to interpret as a real-time video display.

Browse BMP images with voice commands
The voice example mounts a microSD card, looks for BMP files in the root images directory and displays the first valid image. The documented interaction is:
- Say
Hi ESPto wake the voice interface. - Say
show next pictureorshow previous pictureto change the displayed image. - Say
Hi ESPagain before issuing another command, as the example instructions require a new wake phrase for each command.
This is a manufacturer-documented sample project, not an independent test of recognition range or accuracy. The documentation does not establish a microphone-range figure. Makerfabs wiki

Setup and project fit
The wiki documents both ESP-IDF and Arduino support and specifies ESP-IDF 5.4.2 for its setup instructions. The documented voice example needs a microSD card containing BMP images in the root images directory. A USB Type-C connection is used to connect the board to a computer; check that the cable supports data if you intend to program or communicate with the board.
This board makes most sense for a maker who wants to experiment with a relatively large four-color e-paper screen alongside audio capture, motion sensing or camera input. It is less suitable if the project depends on touch input, rapid screen updates, or a confirmed ready-to-use package without checking what is included. No battery-life figure or measured refresh result is established in the manufacturer materials cited here.
