The Marriott Bonvoy Bevy American Express Card can make sense for people who stay with Marriott and will use its hotel benefits, but its $250 annual fee is not offset automatically. Its strongest case is for cardholders who value Marriott points, Gold Elite status and 15 Elite Night Credits—and who can reach the $15,000 annual spending threshold for a Free Night Award through spending they would make anyway.
What the Bevy card costs and earns
The card has a $250 annual fee, according to American Express’s U.S. product page and its cardmember agreement effective March 31, 2026. Its rewards favor Marriott stays, while also offering elevated earning in two everyday categories.

Merchant coding and other eligibility rules affect which purchases qualify for bonus categories. American Express explains the hotel earning structure and category terms on its product page and in its March 31, 2026 cardmember agreement.

Gold Elite status
Eligible cardmembers receive complimentary Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status under the card and loyalty program terms. Status is a useful part of the card’s value if you stay with Marriott, but it should not be treated as a promise of an upgrade or late checkout. Those outcomes depend on program rules and availability.

15 Elite Night Credits each calendar year
The card provides 15 Elite Night Credits per calendar year, subject to card and Bonvoy account conditions. These credits help members progress toward Marriott elite status; they are distinct from Gold Elite status itself.
1,000 bonus points on eligible paid stays
Cardmembers can earn 1,000 bonus points per paid eligible stay booked directly with Marriott at participating properties, subject to the benefit’s terms.

Free Night Award after $15,000 in annual spending
Spend $15,000 on eligible card purchases in a calendar year and the issuer says you can earn one Free Night Award. The award can be redeemed for one night at a participating Bonvoy property costing 50,000 points or fewer. Availability, exclusions, applicable resort fees and program rules can affect whether a particular stay works. The American Express benefits page sets out the threshold and redemption limit.
How to decide whether the $250 fee is worth paying
There is no issuer-established universal point value or standard break-even calculation for this card. Estimate value from benefits you realistically expect to use, rather than adding up every advertised perk at a face value.

- Start with the fee. Treat $250 as the amount the benefits and rewards need to justify over a year.
- Assess the status benefits against your travel. Consider whether Gold Elite status and the 15 annual Elite Night Credits matter for the Marriott stays you already plan to take. Do not count possible upgrades or late checkout as guaranteed savings.
- Estimate points from eligible spending. Apply the card’s earning rates to likely eligible Marriott purchases, restaurant and supermarket spending, and other eligible purchases. For the 4-point categories, account for the combined $15,000 calendar-year cap.
- Count the Free Night Award only if it is realistic for you. Include it only if you can reach $15,000 of eligible annual card spending without changing your spending habits and can find a participating property and date at or below the 50,000-point ceiling.
- Compare the result with your alternatives. A Marriott-focused card is less compelling if you rarely stay at participating properties or would earn more useful rewards elsewhere on ordinary spending.
This approach keeps the calculation personal: point redemption value varies, and the card terms do not establish a value for your specific stay plans.
Other terms to check before applying
The cardmember agreement effective March 31, 2026 lists no foreign transaction fee and a variable purchase APR of Prime Rate plus 12.74% to Prime Rate plus 21.74%. The APR can change, and the agreement date matters; check the current agreement for the terms in effect when you apply. Carrying a balance can make interest costs outweigh rewards.

Verdict: best suited to Marriott-focused spending
The Bevy is a focused choice for frequent Marriott guests who will use its status and stay benefits, earn meaningful points from eligible spending, and can make practical use of the certificate. The $250 fee is harder to justify for occasional Marriott stays, low eligible spending, or a cardholder who cannot redeem the Free Night Award on a stay they actually want. Its value depends on your travel and spending—not simply on the number of benefits listed.
