Manjaro 20.1 Mikah was announced as a stable release on September 11, 2020. It offered Xfce, KDE Plasma, and GNOME editions, each with a different set of desktop customizations and workflow features. These are details of a historical release, not a description of the versions currently offered or supported.
What Manjaro 20.1 Mikah introduced
In the official Manjaro Linux Forum announcement, posted by philm, the release was presented as a new stable version: “We are happy to publish another stable release of Manjaro Linux, named Mikah.” The release notes covered the three desktop editions as well as Pamac, Manjaro Architect, and Linux kernel 5.8.
The editions share the Mikah release identity, but the announcement describes different desktop environments and customization features. It does not provide controlled benchmarks or hardware requirements, so those details are not a basis for ranking the editions by speed or resource use. How the Xfce, KDE, and GNOME editions differed
| Edition | Desktop and included features in Mikah | Described release role |
|---|---|---|
| Xfce | Xfce 4.14, Matcha theme, and Display-Profiles functionality for saving and applying display configurations. Profiles could be applied automatically when displays connect. | Manjaro described Xfce as its flagship edition. |
| KDE Plasma | Plasma 5.19 and KDE Apps 20.08, the Breath2 theme set, extra Kate color schemes, and Plasma-Simplemenu as an alternative launcher. | The release notes highlighted its themes, application updates, and launcher choice. |
| GNOME | Based on the GNOME 3.36 series, with an Extensions app, a Do Not Disturb button, a dynamic wallpaper that varied over time, GDM and layout-switcher improvements, and zsh as the default shell. | The release notes emphasized desktop features and configuration changes. |
Other changes in the Mikah release
Beyond the desktop editions, the announcement noted updates to Pamac 9.5 and ZFS installation support in Manjaro Architect. It also identified Linux kernel 5.8 as the release kernel. These version numbers describe Mikah in 2020; they should not be read as current Manjaro software versions.

Is Mikah still available or supported?
The historical release announcement does not establish whether a Mikah image remains available, receives support, or works with particular hardware. Manjaro’s current official download page, accessed September 28, 2026, lists KDE Plasma, Xfce, and GNOME images. That listing confirms the desktop families offered on that page at the time of access; it does not confirm ongoing availability or support for the Mikah release itself.

The release thread includes a reader asking, “Can anybody explain what meanings does the name ‘Mikah’ have?” It also says Manjaro release names draw on planets or stars from the Star Trek universe. The announcement does not give a more specific explanation of the name.
