The planned trip would start and finish at Vanke Design Commune and visit Seeed Agile Manufacturing Center, an unnamed PCB factory and an unnamed mold factory. The announcement documents the proposed itinerary, but available official sources do not confirm that the safari took place.
What was the Maker Faire Shenzhen Factory Safari?
Maker Faire Shenzhen announced the “MFSZ23 Factory Safari: Experience the Magic Power of Shenzhen Manufacturing” on September 22, 2023. It was presented as a one-day satellite experience for visitors interested in seeing manufacturing processes and learning about Shenzhen’s technology industry.
The organizer described the tour as a chance to explore “the exciting future of Made-with-Shenzhen.” That wording is promotional copy from the announcement, not a report from an attendee.

The safari was planned for Monday, November 13, 2023. Pickup and return were both scheduled at Vanke Design Commune in Xili Street, Nanshan District, Shenzhen. The main Maker Faire Shenzhen event was scheduled for November 11–12 at the same venue, so the safari was planned for the following day.

What were visitors supposed to see?
Seeed Agile Manufacturing Center
The announcement described a stop focused on product manufacturing and supply-chain services, including production and warehouse operations. Planned topics included modular flexible production and digital production management using sensors and automated equipment. It also mentioned a wind-tunnel laboratory for wind and structural-fluid-mechanics tests, plus mold or fixture testing. These are the organizer’s descriptions of the planned visit, not independently verified observations.

An unnamed PCB manufacturing factory
The proposed PCB stop was meant to explain production stages including printing, perforation and chemical copper plating, followed by processes the announcement called silk screening, gold plating, copper plating and gold sinking. The organizer also cited a cleanroom, automated equipment and quality control. It did not identify the factory by name.

An unnamed mold manufacturing factory
The final factory stop was planned to cover mold design and production, CNC machining, wire cutting, laser cutting, milling, turning and grinding equipment, and quality checks. The announcement does not name the facility or independently establish that the visit occurred.

What did registration cost, and how many places were available?
In its 2023 announcement, the organizer listed a fee of RMB 220 / US$30 per person and said 40 places were available. The fee was described as covering bus transportation, lunch and service personnel costs. Registration was announced as open from September 22 through November 5, 2023. These are historical details from that event notice, not current pricing, capacity or booking availability.
Is there confirmation that the safari happened?
The official materials establish that the organizer announced the safari and published a planned route. The Maker Faire Shenzhen 2023 archive lists the announcement and a November 20 wrap-up post for the Faire, but that archive does not confirm completion of the safari. No official completion account in the available sources establishes whether the trip ran or which facilities, if any, visitors actually entered. It is therefore most accurate to describe the stops and schedule as planned rather than as a confirmed event recap.
