Maker Faire Hannover’s 2024 event was its tenth edition, marking a decade of bringing makers, educators, families and technology enthusiasts together. The festival paired emerging subjects such as artificial intelligence and quantum computing with robotics, programming, crafts and hands-on activities. It drew 15,800 participants, according to the organizer.
What is Maker Faire Hannover?
Maker Faire Hannover is an annual community event where people present projects, share skills and invite visitors to explore how things work. Its program is broader than a conventional technology exhibition: displays sit alongside workshops, talks, family activities and opportunities to try practical techniques. The event brings together individual makers, schools, universities, makerspaces and companies.
Projects and activities have included 3D printing, electronics, Arduino and Raspberry Pi, robotics, sustainability, upcycling, art and traditional crafts. The organizer describes the event as a meeting point for ideas from garages, research labs and makerspaces. Its program has featured robot battles, children’s workshops, talks and hands-on technology. See the official Maker Faire Hannover event page.

Maker Faire Hannover began in 2013 at Hannover Congress Centrum. The organizer identifies the August 17–18, 2024 gathering as the tenth edition; the anniversary refers to the event’s edition count, rather than a calculation based only on the calendar years 2013 and 2024. The 2025 gathering was the eleventh edition. The organizer’s event information and Maker Faire’s overview provide the event history.

What visitors saw and could try in 2024
The anniversary program put cutting-edge computing next to established making skills. Among the featured subjects were AI and neural networks, a programmable three-qubit quantum computer, solar technology, robotics and programming. Visitors could also encounter spinning, forging and guitar making, as well as practical technology activities.
Workshops, experiments and family activities
Hands-on options included Minecraft and Scratch programming courses, 3D-printing workshops, soldering stations, and Geiger-counter and laser experiments. The combination matters: the event was not just a display of finished devices, but a place to encounter processes and try activities.

- Learn electronics with ProTechTrader's Deluxe Kit 1 for Make: Electronics, 3rd Edition. Its 200-piece electronics kit matches early Sections 1-3 by Charles Platt.
- Build breadboard circuits with specified passive parts and semiconductors, then move projects to perforated board. A double-sided organizer keeps labeled parts sorted.
- Measure and assemble projects with the PDM631 multimeter and 30W soldering iron. Exact solder, heat-shrink tubing, wire, and test leads support the lesson work.
- Power the supported experiments with the supplied 9V battery, connector, or AC/DC adapter. This electronics tool kit sets up a new beginner bench in one package.
- Choose Deluxe for home study or a supervised class when your new bench needs tools, project power, and the parts used in Sections 1-3. Book sold separately. This product is not a toy and is designed for use by teens and adults ages 13 and up
A sensor project for young learners
One example was Makey:Lab, developed with the IoT workshop at Umwelt-Campus Birkenfeld. Designed for young people aged 14 and over, the kit paired a microcontroller board with two environmental sensors for measuring temperature, humidity, air pressure and air quality. The organizer said it planned to distribute 700 mascot-shaped boards during the 2024 event; that was an event-specific plan, not an indication of current retail availability. The official Hannover event coverage describes the project.

Attendance and how the event changed in 2025
The organizer reported 15,800 participants at the 2024 anniversary edition, 10 percent more than in 2023. For the eleventh edition in 2025, it reported 19,200 participants—more than 20 percent above 2024. The 2025 Maker Faire Yearbook separately lists 230 projects and 19,200 attendees. These figures document growth between two editions, but do not establish a complete attendance trend back to the event’s start.
