One UI Home is Samsung’s official launcher for Galaxy devices: it provides the Home and Apps screens where you arrange app icons, use widgets, and navigate to your apps. What is One UI Home on my Samsung phone?
One UI Home is the interface layer that runs the Galaxy Home screen and Apps screen. How do I customize my Samsung home screen?
Arrange app icons
Move app icons into an order that reflects how you use the phone. Put frequently opened apps within easy reach and group less-used apps into folders if that makes the screen clearer. The Home screen layout lock can help prevent accidental changes after you have arranged the icons. Look for it in the Home screen settings; its exact location and name can vary.

Move between Home and Apps
Samsung describes a quick swipe up or down to move between the Home and Apps screens. Gesture behavior and available navigation settings differ across devices and software versions, so use the instructions and settings shown on your own Galaxy rather than assuming every model responds identically.
Use app and widget shortcuts
Touch and hold an app icon or widget to check for shortcuts. Samsung lists quick access to App info from an app icon and Widget settings from a widget, which can save a trip through the full settings menus. The options shown depend on the selected item and software version.

How do I add or organize widgets?
Widgets display information or provide quick access without requiring you to open the corresponding app. Choose widgets for information you genuinely want at a glance, then leave enough screen space for the apps you use most often.
- Touch and hold an empty area of the Home screen to open its editing controls. The precise controls may vary by model and One UI version.
- Open the widget picker, choose a widget, and add it to the Home screen using the option shown on your device.
- Move or resize the widget if the widget and layout offer those controls. Keep key app icons accessible and check that the widget still shows the information you need.
- For a widget-specific menu, touch and hold the widget and check for Widget settings.
One UI 7 documentation describes options for widget shape, background color, and transparency, as well as labels for apps and widgets. The label setting does not apply to third-party app widgets in the configuration Samsung describes, and labels may leave less room for widget content.

What One UI 7 changes can I make?
Samsung’s One UI 7 materials describe redesigned app icons and widgets, larger Home screen folders, a standard grid layout, and settings for app icon size, labels, and widget appearance. These are version-specific examples, not a guarantee that every Galaxy has the same choices.
Adjust icon size and labels
On supported One UI 7 devices, Samsung says app icon size and app or widget labels can be adjusted in Home screen settings. Labels can help identify items, but they may reduce the area available to show widget information.

Expand folders
Samsung’s One UI 7 guide describes expanding a folder from 1×1 to 2×2 when there is enough space around it. In the expanded layout, apps can be launched directly. If the option is unavailable, the available space or your device’s software configuration may not support it.

Check grid and landscape limits
Samsung’s One UI 7 support guide says standard settings in the described configuration do not support 4×5 and 5×5 Home screen grids; it points to Good Lock for configuring those layouts. The same guide says Home screen content can rearrange in landscape orientation, but editing app icons and widgets or changing folder size is unsupported in landscape mode in that configuration. These limits should not be generalized to every Galaxy model or software build.

Why does my Galaxy home screen look different after an update?
An update can change the launcher’s appearance or available customization controls. For example, Samsung’s One UI 7 notes describe redesigned icons and widgets alongside new customization options. The changes you see depend on your Galaxy model, installed One UI and Android versions, and app version; Samsung warns that feature names, menu paths, and screen layouts can differ.
- Check your phone’s model and installed software version before following a menu path from another device.
- Open Home screen settings on your own phone and use the controls that are actually available there.
- Distinguish standard Home screen settings from optional Good Lock customization, especially when looking for grid layouts.
Samsung’s guidance is device- and software-dependent, so a missing option does not necessarily mean One UI Home is malfunctioning. Use the Samsung support instructions that match your model and installed software.
