The Majority Bowfell Halo Atmos is a compact, low-cost 5.1 soundbar package that includes a main bar, two rear speakers and a subwoofer. It delivers more convincing surround sound and bass than a TV’s built-in speakers, but its Dolby Atmos height effect is virtualized—not produced by overhead or up-firing drivers. It is best suited to viewers who want an affordable, complete surround setup and can accommodate a few speaker cables.
What do you get for the price?
The Bowfell Halo Atmos is a complete 5.1 system, not a standalone soundbar. Its package comprises the main bar, a subwoofer and two rear speakers. That bundle is the central part of its value: you get dedicated rear-channel sound and a separate bass unit without assembling a system from several products.
At launch in the UK in February 2026, Majority advertised it for £169; AVForums listed an MSRP of £169.95, while What Hi-Fi? and TechRadar reviewed it at about £169. Those are dated launch and review prices, not a check of today’s price or stock. Majority also claims 300W total output; that is the manufacturer’s specification, not an independently verified power measurement. Majority’s launch announcement, AVForums’ review, What Hi-Fi?’s review, and TechRadar’s review provide those dated references.

TV dialogue and everyday viewing
AVForums praised clean dialogue for television, and the separate speakers give sound more room than a TV’s built-in system. If your main aim is making programmes sound fuller, this is a more useful proposition than buying a small bar alone. However, reviews also note dialogue or tonal shortcomings in some situations, so do not treat it as a guaranteed dialogue-enhancement solution for every voice or room.

Surround effects and Dolby Atmos
The system supports Dolby Atmos, but the physical layout has no up-firing drivers. Reviewers describe its height effect as virtualized, so it should not be confused with a system that has dedicated overhead channels. What Hi-Fi? and Expert Reviews both note that the result has limited height and spatial scale; rear detail can be effective, but the soundfield is not as expansive as the format name may suggest. Expert Reviews’ John Archer summed up the value this way: “The Bowfell Halo Atmos’ sound is startlingly, if not quite shockingly, good for its price.” Expert Reviews’ assessment.
Bass and music
The included subwoofer is a notable strength. What Hi-Fi? found the system surprisingly bassy and cinematic for its price, while Expert Reviews and TechRadar also praised the subwoofer’s impact. Music is less consistent: AVForums criticized the midrange, and TechRadar also found music performance limited. If music listening is as important to you as films and television, auditioning it first—or comparing a stereo-focused alternative—would be sensible.

What are the trade-offs?
- Limited height and scale: Dolby Atmos is virtualized, without physical up-firing drivers, and reviewers found the spatial presentation constrained.
- Mixed sound beyond films: Music drew criticism, and reviewers noted tonal or dialogue issues alongside the system’s strengths.
- No DTS support: Expert Reviews and TechRadar report that DTS formats are not supported.
- Wiring and construction: Reviewers describe the build as plasticky and note visible wiring. The rear speakers connect to each other by cable, so “semi-wireless” does not mean every component is cable-free.
- Room for improvement in surround integration: AVForums found the surrounds contributed relatively little to the overall soundfield, even though Expert Reviews praised the detail they could place.
TechRadar recounts one instance of dialogue dropping out and returning after a restart, but its reviewer could not establish whether the soundbar, television or cable caused it. That anecdote does not establish a recurring product defect.
How does it connect to a TV?
The available connections include HDMI eARC, optical, Bluetooth 5.3, USB and AUX. For a wired TV connection, choose a suitable HDMI eARC/ARC or optical port and check the television’s audio-output settings. The manual advises setting digital audio to PCM if sound is absent through the described connection; it also suggests trying optical, ARC/eARC or Bluetooth as applicable. Majority’s manual and support materials cover input selection, remote controls, EQ modes, Bluetooth pairing, USB playback and speaker placement.

The package is compact: What Hi-Fi? lists the main bar at 7 × 41 × 9 cm and the total package weight at 3.6 kg. Those figures can help with shelf or cabinet planning, but allow room for the subwoofer, rear speakers and their cables as well.

Consider it if you want a relatively inexpensive, bundled 5.1 upgrade with a subwoofer and rear speakers, value a compact setup, and mostly watch television or films. Its strongest case is the amount of hardware and bass impact reviewers say it provides for its launch/review price.

Look elsewhere if you expect a convincing overhead Atmos effect, a large and enveloping soundfield, strong music reproduction, DTS compatibility or an especially tidy cable-free installation. What Hi-Fi? and TechRadar identify the Hisense AX5125H as a more expensive complete-package alternative; check current prices and compare the exact configurations before deciding whether the upgrade is worthwhile. What Hi-Fi? also names the Sony HT-SF150, Creative Stage Pro and Sonos Ray as options for shoppers willing to give up dedicated rear speakers, a subwoofer and/or Dolby Atmos.
