Magico’s A3 2027 is a ground-up redesign, not a cosmetic refresh—but the available evidence does not yet establish it as a “money-no-object” must-buy. The manufacturer has published ambitious engineering claims and headline specifications; independent listening results for this generation are not yet available in the sources reviewed. UK pricing is reported at £28,998 per pair, with availability expected in early 2027.
What is new in the Magico A3 2027?
Magico describes the A3 2027 as a three-way, four-driver floorstanding speaker with an entirely new enclosure, drivers, and crossover. The original A3 arrived in 2017; the 2027 version follows nine years later. Magico says it carried nothing forward simply because it had worked before. Magico’s product page presents that as the company’s design intent, not an independent assessment.
Cabinet and driver design
Magico says the midrange and bass cones use aluminum-honeycomb cores between carbon-fiber skins. The 28 mm beryllium tweeter has a customized neodymium motor. The cabinet uses constrained-layer damping and revised bracing, according to the launch coverage from hi-fi+.
There is a specification discrepancy to resolve before relying on the midrange diameter: Magico’s product page lists a 6-inch midrange, while hi-fi+’s launch article calls it 5 inches. Ask a dealer or Magico to confirm the final specification.

Crossover and development measurements
Magico specifies a three-way Elliptical Symmetry crossover with a 24 dB Linkwitz–Riley slope. It says development included laser vibrometry to identify cabinet-panel vibration and a Near-Field Scanner robot to measure sound around the speaker’s three-dimensional sphere, supporting on- and off-axis optimization. These describe the manufacturer’s process; they are not independent performance tests.
Published specifications
| Specification | Magico A3 2027 |
|---|---|
| Design | Three-way, four-driver floorstander |
| Frequency response | 25 Hz–50 kHz, manufacturer specification |
| Sensitivity | 87 dB, manufacturer specification |
| Impedance | 4 ohms, manufacturer specification |
| Recommended amplifier power | 50–300 W RMS, manufacturer recommendation |
| Dimensions | 9.25 in W × 11.02 in D × 43.11 in H, manufacturer specification |
| Weight | 131 lb (59.4 kg) per speaker, manufacturer specification |
The 87 dB sensitivity and 4-ohm impedance are useful starting points for amplifier matching, not a guarantee that any amplifier in the recommended range will suit every room or listening level. Ask the dealer to demonstrate the speakers with an amplifier and placement similar to your intended setup. The published per-speaker weight works out to about 262 lb for a pair, before packaging; that pair figure is calculated from Magico’s specification.

How much do the Magico A3 2027 speakers cost?
What Hi-Fi? reports a UK price of £28,998 per pair and expected availability during the first part of 2027 through distributor Absolute Sounds. hi-fi+ gives an estimated Q1 2027 ship date and cautions that specifications may change. These are launch-era reports, not confirmation of current stock or a global retail price.

Those UK figures come from different dates and do not form a like-for-like price comparison. Magico’s December 2017 launch release lists an original US suggested retail price of $9,800 per pair and a first-quarter 2018 ship date; that US price should not be directly compared with the new model’s reported UK price.

Before ordering, confirm the price and what it includes in your country: taxes, delivery, installation, dealer demonstration, and local availability can all affect the real purchase. The reviewed sources do not establish the A3 2027’s warranty terms. The original A3 manual describes a five-year limited warranty with conditions, but those terms should not be assumed to apply to the new generation.
How does the A3 2027 compare with the original A3?
| Area | Original A3 | A3 2027 |
|---|---|---|
| Generation and launch | Introduced in 2017; Magico’s release gave a first-quarter 2018 ship date. | Announced as a 2027 redesign; UK availability was reported as expected in the first part of 2027. |
| UK price context | Reported launch price £12,000 per pair; What Hi-Fi? says Magico indicated it had risen to just under £22,000 in 2026. | £28,998 per pair, reported by What Hi-Fi? in 2026. |
| US launch price | $9,800 per pair, Magico suggested retail price in its December 2017 release. | Not stated in the sources cited here. |
| Cabinet, drivers, crossover | Predecessor design; the A3 2027 is described by Magico as replacing all three. | New enclosure, drivers, and crossover, per Magico. |
| Independent listening evidence | hi-fi+ reviewed the original model, praising transparency and musical coherence while noting limits on extreme playback levels compared with larger loudspeakers. | No independent audition of the A3 2027 appears in the sources cited here. |
The original-model review can offer context about the earlier speaker, but it cannot predict how the redesigned A3 sounds. hi-fi+ wrote of the original: “This loudspeaker is a transcriptor of recorded music, and makes many of its rivals sound like pale interpreters.” That verdict belongs to the predecessor review, not the A3 2027.

Is the Magico A3 worth it?
At the reported UK price, the A3 2027 is a substantial purchase whose case currently rests on its redesign, published specifications, and Magico’s engineering account—not on independently verified sound quality for this generation. The “money-no-object” framing is therefore a question to test in person, not an established verdict.
- It may merit an audition if you want a tall, heavy floorstander, have an amplifier appropriate for a 4-ohm load, and value Magico’s stated focus on enclosure control and measured optimization.
- Wait for independent reviews or a demonstration if you need evidence of tonal balance, bass behavior, maximum output, or how the new model compares with alternatives. Those results are not established by the launch specifications.
- Check practical fit by confirming the speaker’s dimensions, moving and installation arrangements, room suitability, dealer support, final specifications, and warranty in your market.
There is no substantiated direct competitor comparison in the cited sources, so a ranking against other expensive floorstanders would be premature. For a purchase at this level, audition access, room fit, amplifier matching, and the actual local price matter alongside the design claims.
