Mageia’s official site still provides download information for Mageia 7.1, but Mageia 7 is end of life: support ended on June 30, 2021. Treat its installer as an archived release for a specific legacy need, not as a safe everyday choice. For a new general-purpose installation, use the current release, Mageia 10, released in July 2026.
Where to get Mageia 7.1
Visit Mageia’s official Mageia 7.1 download page for the archived installation images and the download options it currently presents. The page labels Mageia 7 end of life; check its mirror and image details before downloading. The available information describes direct mirror downloads and BitTorrent. Mageia recommends BitTorrent for potentially faster and more reliable large downloads, though results depend on the network and the availability of peers.
Mageia announced version 7 on July 1, 2019. Updated Mageia 7.1 installation media followed on July 16, 2019. Mageia said the 7.1 media addressed installation problems on AMD Ryzen 3000 systems and included validated bug fixes and security updates available as of July 11, 2019; it described the distribution core as unchanged. These are historical release details, not evidence of current software support or compatibility with newer hardware. Mageia also says an existing Mageia 7 installation brought up to date with the latest updates did not need reinstalling to match the updated 7.1 media.

The archived page lists 32-bit and 64-bit choices. Mageia’s original 2019 announcement described Classical installers for both architectures and Live images including Plasma, GNOME, and Xfce, plus an additional 32-bit Xfce image. Those desktop and architecture details describe Mageia 7-era media; they do not establish that it is suitable for present-day devices.

Make a USB installer carefully
Mageia says its ISO images can be launched from USB. Before writing one, copy anything important off the target drive: Mageia warns that writing an image destroys the previous filesystem on the partition, can put data at risk, and reduces the partition’s usable capacity to the image size. Select the USB device carefully so you do not overwrite another drive.
Mageia names IsoDumper or tools based on dd for writing the image on Linux, and says UNetbootin is unsupported. Follow the instructions for your chosen tool and verify the target device before starting.

Is Mageia 7 safe to install now?
Not as a normal internet-connected daily-use operating system. Mageia’s support page records Mageia 7 support through June 30, 2021. Its official download page also marks the release end of life. Do not assume that it receives security fixes or that its repositories and software remain available merely because an ISO can still be found.
Mageia’s June 8, 2021 notice said Mageia 7 would receive updates, including security updates, through June 30, 2021, and urged users to upgrade with a thorough backup. That was guidance for the period before support ended, not a current supported upgrade route. The archived installer manual recommends a clean installation when moving from an end-of-life release.

If you have a specific reason to preserve or run Mageia 7, limit exposure: consider an offline or isolated test machine rather than a system used for browsing, email, or sensitive work. The official material cited here does not establish the release’s current security condition, package availability, or compatibility with a particular computer.

Mageia’s homepage identifies Mageia 10, released in July 2026, as the current release. Its support page lists current updates for Mageia 9 and Mageia 10, in contrast to Mageia 7’s expired support. Check the Mageia homepage and official support page for the latest status and download links.

In short, download Mageia 7.1 only when you specifically need that archived release. For an ordinary new installation, start with Mageia 10 and its current official download information.
