What the Mac mini configurations mean
The Mac mini is a compact desktop computer, not a laptop. Apple identifies the 2024 Mac mini with M4 as having a 10-core CPU, 10-core GPU, and 16-core Neural Engine. The roundup’s $499 and $689 examples both had 16GB of memory but differed in SSD capacity: 256GB versus 512GB. Its $904 example had 24GB of memory and a 512GB SSD. Those are different configurations, so a price comparison should match both memory and storage rather than focus on discount percentage alone. Apple’s Mac mini (2024) technical specifications identify model details; verify the retailer’s exact SKU before comparing.

What to know about the M4 MacBook Air
Apple announced the M4 MacBook Air on March 5, 2025, with U.S. launch starting prices of $999 for the 13-inch model and $1,199 for the 15-inch model. Apple said the lineup starts with 16GB of unified memory and supports up to two external displays in addition to its built-in screen. These are launch-period facts, not evidence of current retail prices. Apple’s announcement provides the launch details.
Apple’s technical page for the 13-inch M4 model specifies a 13.6-inch display, 16GB unified memory, and a 256GB SSD in its base specification. The roundup’s $799 listing matched that memory and storage capacity. Check whether a retailer listing is for the 13-inch or 15-inch size and compare memory and SSD capacity as well as price. Apple notes that Apple Intelligence feature and language availability depends on regional availability and system requirements; support should not be assumed to be identical everywhere. How to decide between these deals
- Choose a desktop format if it fits your setup: The Mac mini is the compact-computer option in this roundup. Factor in whether you already have a display and peripherals; it is not a portable all-in-one laptop.
- Choose an Air for a built-in screen and mobility: The 13-inch and 15-inch models differ in screen size. The roundup’s 15-inch prices covered multiple variants, so confirm the exact memory and storage before comparing them with the 13-inch listing.
- Compare like with like: Memory and SSD capacity are separate specifications. A larger SSD or more memory can explain a higher price even when two listings share the same product family.
- Check external-display needs: Apple’s launch announcement described support for up to two external displays in addition to the built-in display for the M4 Air lineup. Confirm the precise model and setup requirements if your display arrangement is important.
- Recheck the offer before purchase: The September 2025 prices and discount claims are historical. Confirm the live price, stock, model year, and full configuration on the retailer page.
Apple Intelligence availability
The HotHardware roundup said its featured systems support Apple Intelligence. Apple’s specification page qualifies availability: features and languages depend on regional availability and system requirements. Consult Apple’s current feature and compatibility information for your region and software setup rather than treating the roundup’s statement as a guarantee of universal access.
