The Luna Band is worth buying if you want a screenless tracker with no subscription and you are willing to open its app every day. Its strongest points are LifeOS, the software that turns sensor data into a daily plan, and a price that sits below Garmin’s Cirqa. Its weakest points are design polish, automatic activity tracking, and recommendations that one reviewer found inconsistent. If you want a band that works well with minimal input, the Luna Band is a riskier choice than its price and promise suggest.

This guide draws on Luna’s own product page, accessed October 7, 2026, and two hands-on reviews published in late September 2026: Tech Advisor’s review by Mike Sawh on September 28, and The Independent’s two-week test by Jennifer Heimlich on September 23. We have not tested the band ourselves, so every performance claim below is attributed to its source.

What the Luna Band is

The Luna Band is a fitness wearable with no display. It reads health and activity signals, sends them to the Luna app, and LifeOS produces a personalised daily plan. Luna’s product page lists the following specifications:

  • Compatibility with iOS and Android

These are manufacturer specifications and claims. They have not been validated through independent testing, and the reviews discussed below do not establish their accuracy.

Does the Luna Band really need no subscription?

Luna states that the app and LifeOS are free for all users and that no subscription is required (Luna product page, accessed October 7, 2026). That is the clearest contrast with the competition. Tech Advisor’s September 28, 2026 review says both Fitbit and Garmin can be used without a subscription, but that some data or advanced features sit behind a paid tier. It judged that trade-off more consequential for Fitbit.

The free-use promise currently rests on Luna’s own statement. Both reviewers report it, but neither independently verified the plan structure. Check the current terms on Luna’s site before you buy, because paid tiers on rival platforms change over time.

At the time of Tech Advisor’s review, the official Luna store was the only place to buy the band. Retailer availability beyond that was not confirmed. These are dated figures, so confirm the local price, stock, and shipping before you buy, and check Fitbit and Garmin prices yourself rather than relying on the table.

Design, fit, and build

Sawh wore the band for a few weeks and found it comfortable. The review lists a weight of 24 grams, three colour finishes, two strap sizes in the box, and 5 ATM water resistance. The buckle began to scuff during his test. His overall verdict was:

Smart Bracelet Health and Fitness Tracker No Subscription Fees Black
  • Simple & Screen-Free Design – Easy to use and ultra-lightweight, comfortable for all-day wear without the distraction of a screen
  • Powerful Health Monitoring – Accurately tracks heart rate, blood pressure, blood oxygen, HRV, sleep quality, and stress levels to help you better understand your body
  • 100+ Sports Modes – Supports a wide range of fitness activities with precise tracking, making it your reliable companion for workouts and daily movement
  • Ultra-Long Battery Life – Just 2 hours of charging powers up to 47 days of standby, so you can focus on your goals without constant recharging
  • No Subscription Required – Enjoy all features with the free app, fast syncing, and easy Bluetooth connection—no hidden costs

“The Luna Band is another solid-performing fitness band where the companion app shines – importantly with no subscription model – but is slightly let down by a design that’s not quite on par with the competition.”

Fit is the area where a reader’s own wrist matters most. Two strap sizes help, but neither review reports how the band performs across a wide range of wrist sizes.

Battery life and charging

Luna advertises up to 10 days of battery life. This is a manufacturer rating from its current product specification, accessed October 7, 2026, and it is not a population statistic.

In Heimlich’s two-week test, battery life came close to that advertised 10-day figure. Charging was less generous. Luna advertises a 60-minute charge, but her unit reached only about 75 percent after that hour. A full charge therefore took longer than the label implies in her test.

LifeOS, the daily plan, and micro-apps

LifeOS is the centre of the product. It organises your day into a calendar of suggested activities and presents a daily score. Several features are worth understanding before you rely on them.

The daily calendar

Heimlich found the calendar and its detailed suggestions potentially helpful. Sawh praised the companion app more broadly. Both reviewers treat the app as the product’s main strength, and the calendar is where most of that value sits.

The daily score and training decisions

Heimlich’s main concern was the score. After a poor night’s sleep, it could encourage harder activity than the day warrants. Anyone who uses the score to decide how hard to train should weigh that risk. The score is wellness guidance, not medical advice. Luna’s product FAQ states that the Luna Band “is not classified as a medical device,” and describes it as a consumer wellness tracker. That is Luna’s own statement, not a ruling from a regulator.

Conflicting recommendations

Heimlich also found that suggestions sometimes conflicted with one another. Luna told her it was working on those recommendation and conflict issues. That is a report of the company’s response, not confirmation that a fix has shipped, so check the current app behaviour yourself.

Regular app use is required

Heimlich said the band gets the most value from regular use of the calendar and micro-apps. If you do not plan to open the app most days, much of what the Luna Band offers will go unused.

Tracking accuracy and data quality

Sawh reported generally good sleep and heart-rate tracking. Heimlich’s results were more mixed, and they are one person’s two-week test rather than a controlled study:

  • Step counts initially differed from a Garmin device she used for comparison, then matched more closely later.
  • Sleep and health data varied from what she expected.
  • She observed temperature readings that were not plausible.
  • She found automatic activity tracking unreliable.

Neither review is an accuracy benchmark. Treat these results as evidence of how the band behaved for two reviewers, not as proof of how it will perform for you.

Features missing at review time

Sawh reported that some data and apps were not yet available when he tested the band. Luna’s advertised feature list is broader than what he could use at that point. Check whether the feature you care about, such as a particular data type or micro-app, is live in the current app before you buy.

Luna Band or Fitbit Air?

The Luna Band is a reasonable Fitbit Air rival as a category comparison, since both are screenless wearables. It is not established that the Luna Band is more accurate than the Fitbit Air, and it should not be treated as a universal replacement. The table compares what the cited sources report.

Who should buy the Luna Band, and who should wait

The Luna Band suits you if:

  • You want a screenless tracker and do not want to pay a recurring subscription.
  • You like structured daily prompts and will open the app most days.
  • Comfort matters more to you than premium design.

You should wait or look elsewhere if:

  • You rely on automatic activity detection and need it to be dependable.
  • You want a band that works fully out of the box with no missing features.
  • You want the most polished design, since Sawh specifically criticised the design relative to competitors.
  • You are price-led and the lower-priced Fitbit Air meets your needs.
