Lumos says it completed its acquisition of the fiber network ALLO built and operated in Joplin, Missouri, on October 2, 2026. If you are an existing ALLO customer, the immediate instruction is simple: keep using your service as usual and do not take action while you wait for direct transition information. Lumos said service was expected to move near the end of 2026; the announcement did not guarantee a specific date.
What Lumos acquired
The transaction covers ALLO’s Joplin fiber network, which Lumos says it has acquired and plans to use as a foundation for expansion in the community. The company has not quantified planned construction or provided a schedule for expansion. Its October 2 announcement also did not disclose the deal value, Joplin customer count, homes passed, or network mileage. Lumos’s acquisition announcement describes ALLO as serving more than 50 communities, but that is ALLO’s general company footprint—not the scale of the Joplin transaction. Data Center Dynamics likewise reported that financial terms were not disclosed.

Lumos CEO Scott Mispagel said the company looked forward to welcoming customers and continuing to bring fiber connectivity to homes and businesses. ALLO CEO Shane West said ALLO was proud of the network it built and the customers it served. These are company statements about the transaction; the announcement does not provide an independent service-performance comparison.

- DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
- AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
- EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
- OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
- Do not sign up for Lumos just to preserve your current service during the announced transition.
- Keep an eye out for direct communications from the providers and follow the instructions they give you.
- Use ALLO’s Joplin transition notice for current practical guidance, including payment information.
ALLO says its Joplin store at 512 S Main Street closes October 30, 2026, and payment drop boxes will no longer be available after that. Check ALLO’s current notice for accepted payment methods and contact details rather than assuming the store or drop-box arrangements continue.
Will service keep working, and will the bill change?
ALLO says customer service will remain active through the end of 2026 or until a customer transfers to Lumos. It also says monthly service and price will remain unchanged for as long as the customer is still on ALLO service. That assurance applies to the period on ALLO; it does not establish the price or terms after a customer transitions to Lumos.

The providers have not stated post-transition plan prices, specific plan details, equipment requirements, or whether customer-owned routers will be compatible. Do not assume that a current price or equipment arrangement carries over: wait for the direct transition information or consult the provider’s current customer notice.

How to check Lumos availability at an address
Lumos’s Joplin page provides an address-level availability check. Enter the service address on the Lumos Joplin page to see what the provider lists for that location. An availability result for an address does not by itself explain the terms of an ALLO customer’s transition; current customers should continue following direct transition communications.

Lumos describes its Joplin offering as fiber internet and Whole-Home Wi-Fi, and says the acquired network gives it a foundation for expansion. The available company statements do not establish that customers will get faster speeds, lower prices, or improved reliability because of the acquisition. They also do not specify whether existing equipment will be reused or what customers may need after transfer.

A City of Joplin document about ALLO’s earlier launch described a planned Calix GPON design with a Wi-Fi 6 router, but that historical plan does not establish the equipment currently installed at a customer’s home or what Lumos will use after transition. The city document is not a current equipment-compatibility guide.
