In Pocket Gamer’s tier list updated September 7, 2026 for Lucky Defense version 2.0.11, Penguin Magician is C tier, while Immortal Knight Lancelot, Roka, Lancelot, Kitty Mage, Bat Man, Rocket Chu, Monopoly Man, Verdee, Tar, and Immortal Devil Monopoly are S tier. That is one publisher’s editorial ranking—not an official or measured verdict on every unit’s value. The App Store lists version 2.0.12 dated September 11, so the list may not reflect later changes.
How to read this Lucky Defense tier list
Lucky Defense is a luck-based tower-defense game built around summoning and merging units, which the game’s developers describe as “A casual tower defense all about LUCK” on Google Play. The game calls its recruitable characters units; they serve a role similar to towers in other tower-defense games.
The rankings below reproduce Pocket Gamer’s editorial list, which identifies its update as September 7, 2026 and its game version as 2.0.11. They are useful as a snapshot of that guide’s recommendations, not as official developer rankings or results from a documented controlled test. The guide does not provide head-to-head performance measurements.

Why Lancelot and Kitty Mage stand out in the guide
Lancelot: damage against high-HP targets
Pocket Gamer describes Lancelot as a magic-damage hero whose Flame passive adds damage based on the target’s HP. That makes him particularly relevant against high-HP bosses, and the guide calls him a must-have for harder content. This is the guide’s rationale, not a published quantitative comparison with other units.
Kitty Mage: MP support for magic teams
The guide describes Kitty Mage as a support unit that regenerates allies’ MP, helping damage-focused units such as Lancelot use their ultimate skills more often. It recommends level 12 and calls her a staple in magic-oriented teams; treat that level target as the author’s advice rather than a verified universal breakpoint.

Why a single tier list can miss situational value
A separate community guide sorts characters by role rather than treating every unit as interchangeable. In its boss-killer section, it places Lancelot and Watt in S, Vayne in A, and Zap in D. It also says specialist boss killers are most useful for the last few bosses on harder difficulties. Those placements come from a different guide with its own perspective, so they should not be mechanically combined with Pocket Gamer’s tiers. See the role-based Lucky Defense guide.

- BUILD 3D SPIRES, DEFEND — Stack floor tiles into true vertical structures as you and up to three teammates race the clock to build four elemental spires, gather resources, and defend the Aethercore from waves of Aether Fiends. This cooperative tower building and defense game brings a real, freestanding 3D structure to your table, not just a flat board.
- PREMIUM WOOD & PUNCHBOARD — Every session includes 50 custom wooden pillar cubes and 41 wooden invader tokens, plus premium punchboard components: 38 floor tiles in three sizes and 4 3D spire toppers, along with a full set of character, boss, and adaptation cards. Eight custom acrylic 8-sided dice round out the set, adding a unique tactile touch to every roll.
- COOP PLAY, 1-4, 45 MIN — Play solo or team up with 2, 3, or 4 players in a fast-paced cooperative game built for teens and adults. Whether you're browsing board games for 2 or planning a full 4-player group, Aetherspire's 45-minute round makes it an easy addition to game night.
- STRATEGY GAME, AGES 14+ — Aetherspire is designed for players 14 and older, with the tactical depth and elemental storyline strategy gamers look for and rules that reward resource management and combination play over luck. Four distinct difficulty modes let your group start simple and grow into deeper strategy from session to session. A full rulebook is included to walk your group through setup.
- COMPLETE SET, NO EXTRAS — In addition to the premium wood and punchboard components listed above, the box includes the game board, active player token, 15 character cards, 16 boss cards, 6 spire adaptation cards, 4 player aid cards, 4 wall tokens, 5 disc tokens, 4 spire completion tokens, a cloth storage bag, and the full rulebook. Everything your group needs to start building, defending, and replaying Elementis is included from the first play.
- Wave clear: performance against groups of ordinary enemies.
- Boss damage: value against high-HP targets, particularly on difficult stages.
- Support or control: effects that help allies cast more often or otherwise improve the team.
The available guides do not offer a quantitative head-to-head assessment across all these roles and circumstances, so a tier label alone cannot settle every roster decision.
What Penguin Magician’s C-tier placement does—and does not—mean
In Pocket Gamer’s September 2026 list, Penguin Magician is C tier. A separate specialist treasure guide describes an exclusive treasure for Penguin Musician that can raise the chance of a better Variation performance, up to 20% at maximum. That is a specific potential niche, not evidence that Penguin is generally strong or that the C-tier placement is wrong. The effect is described in the Lucky Defense treasure guide.

- EASY TO SET UP, EASY TO LEARN: Fire Tower takes seconds to set up and minutes to learn. The game is highly accessible because of its intuitive rules and visual instructions that show how each card works.
- UNIQUE THEME AND GAMEPLAY: Fire Tower brings players into a unique world of competitive firefighting. Use real firefighting techniques to defend your tower from the growing flames and take control of nature to send the fire towards your opponents to claim victory. Each turn, you must spread the fire in the direction of the wind and then play one of your action cards. Extinguish the blaze with fire engines, dispatch smoke jumpers, and build firebreaks. Harness the destructive force of nature to spread the flames away from your tower and towards your opponents.
- STRATEGIC AND FAST-PACED with HIGH REPLAYABILITY: Fire Tower takes 15-30 minutes to play. Every turn is a tense decision, as players must adjust to changing conditions in the forest and the plans of their opponents. Downtime is minimal, and players stay in the game even after their towers are destroyed, continuing to play as the vengeful Shadow of the Wood with special powers and a new path to victory. Try playing free-for-all or battle in teams of two to change up the strategy of the game.
- VIBRANT ARTWORK AND COMPONENTS: The game features original watercolors by fine artist Kevin Ruelle. The vivid colors perfectly match the beautiful, unique components and create a highly tactile experience that fully immerses players in the theme of the game. The game’s deluxe components include 135 glimmering fire gems, a printed cloth bag, custom meeples, an engraved wind die, and more.
- THE PERFECT GIFT: This game is a great gift for gamers, teens, adults and kids. It’s easy to introduce to new players, but has enough strategic depth to engage gamers as well, making it the perfect fit for family game night, Thanksgiving, or your next weekly get-together.
Naming varies across sources: the tier-list title says “Penguin Magician,” while other listings use “Penguin Musician” or “Noisy Penguin Musician.” Do not assume those labels indicate different units without checking the current in-game name and details.

Pocket Gamer labels its list for version 2.0.11. The App Store version history lists version 2.0.12 dated September 11, 2026, four days after the guide’s stated update. That later listing makes the tier list potentially out of date, but it does not establish that version 2.0.12 changed any of the units or their balance. Check the current notes and in-game unit details before making a decision based on a volatile ranking; the version history is available on the App Store listing.
