Pocket Gamer’s September 17, 2026 tier list for Lucky Defense version 2.0.12 places 11 heroes in S tier, but it does not rank heroes stage by stage. Use its list as a dated starting point, then choose by the role your team needs and the conditions of the stage—not as a guaranteed best-pick chart for every encounter.

How to choose heroes when the list is not stage-specific
The available guide does not provide a stage-by-stage matrix or establish a unique best hero for each stage. Instead, use the supported hero descriptions to match a pick to the job you need done. That is a role-based way to interpret the general list, not evidence of particular stage counters or tested team combinations.
For high-HP bosses: Lancelot
Pocket Gamer describes Lancelot as a magic damage dealer. Its guide says his Flame passive adds damage based on the target’s HP, which the publication considers useful against high-HP bosses and harder content. Treat that as the guide’s characterization, not a guarantee for every boss encounter.

For more frequent ally abilities: Kitty Mage
Pocket Gamer describes Kitty Mage as a support hero that helps allies regenerate MP, letting damage carries such as Lancelot cast ultimates more often. The guide recommends prioritizing Kitty Mage level 12 for a magic-oriented team; this is the publication’s recommendation, not a universal requirement.
For physical single-target damage: Vayne
The guide characterizes Vayne as physical single-target DPS suited to bosses. It points to extra damage from her movement passive and additional damage on every third attack as the basis for that role.

For luck stones, income, or physical-team defense reduction: Monopoly Man
Pocket Gamer says Monopoly Man’s Mutation ultimate can generate luck stones and increase income for summons and upgrades. It also describes his DEF Down passive as useful to physical-damage teams. These are different reasons to consider him, so choose based on whether your need is economy or defense reduction.

Pocket Gamer describes Dragon’s damage as solid but says the timing of hatching makes his performance too dependent on RNG for the author’s preference. That is a guide-author judgment; it does not establish that Dragon is a poor choice in every run.

What the game’s mechanics mean for hero selection
Google Play’s Lucky Defense listing says players summon heroes using SP earned by defeating monsters, sell or exchange heroes, choose among three abilities at certain waves, and upgrade and deploy heroes. These mechanics make hero selection part of a run’s evolving resource and upgrade decisions rather than a fixed lineup decision alone. The listing also describes monthly seasons and a Season Pass. The listing displays October 29, 2025 as its update date, earlier than Pocket Gamer’s September 2026 tier snapshot. It also mentions damage reporting that accounts for remaining HP and total damage by class and hero. Because the store information is older, it should not be treated as confirmation of every current mechanic or interface detail.

How to use the tier list in your next run
- Start with the stage’s immediate need. Decide whether you need boss-focused single-target damage, magic damage, support for more ability casts, economy, or defense reduction.
- Use the dated tiers as a shortlist. The list provides a general ranking for version 2.0.12, but it does not prove that an S-tier hero is optimal for every stage or team.
- Check the current in-game version and conditions. The snapshot is dated, and Pocket Gamer warns that new hero releases can shift its ranking. Do not assume the September 2026 list reflects later balance changes.
