If your phone is missing, use its platform’s device-finding service to lock it or remove its wallet payment capability: Find My for iPhone, Find Hub for Android, or Samsung’s device-finding service for Samsung Wallet. If that remote control is unavailable—or card details may be exposed—call the card issuer and ask about suspending the card. Wallet suspension and cancelling the physical card are separate actions.
What to do first when your phone is lost
- Try the remote lock or wallet control for your phone. Use the platform-specific steps below as soon as you can.
- Contact your card issuer if the remote action fails or you need card-level protection. Use the number on your physical card, if available. Ask whether the card itself should be suspended or replaced; the wallet action may affect only payment from the lost device.
- If the phone was stolen, contact your mobile carrier. Apple’s guidance recommends reporting the theft and asking the carrier to suspend service.
- Secure the associated account if you suspect it was accessed. If you think your Google Account was compromised, follow Google’s compromised-account recovery guidance.
Disable Apple Pay on a lost iPhone
- Open iCloud.com/find or use Find My on another Apple device, then select the missing iPhone.
- Choose Mark as Lost (Lost Mode). Apple says this locks the device and suspends Apple Pay payment cards and passes on it.
- If you cannot use Lost Mode or want to remove payment capability another way, use the options on your Apple Account page or remotely erase the device. You can also call the bank or card issuer to suspend cards from Apple Pay.
Apple says Apple Pay card suspension through Lost Mode can take effect even when the iPhone is offline and not connected to cellular or Wi-Fi. When the device is recovered, you can re-enable Apple Pay. This offline behavior is specific to Apple Pay card suspension; it should not be assumed for other remote actions or wallet platforms. Secure Google Wallet on a lost Android phone
- Go to Google Find Hub and sign in to the Google Account on the missing phone.
- Choose the device and use the available option to secure it or erase it. Google says erasing removes payment information, including credit and debit cards, from that device.
- If you suspect someone accessed your Google Account, use the compromised-account recovery guidance linked above as well.
Google says remote secure or erase actions depend on the device having power, a mobile-data or Wi-Fi connection, a signed-in Google Account, Find Hub turned on, and visibility on Google Play. If those conditions are not met, the action may not be available or may not take effect until the phone reconnects. Google’s item-management guidance distinguishes cards on a particular device from passes connected to a Google Account. Removing a card added to Wallet on one device removes it from that device; some account-connected passes are removed across devices, while device-specific passes may remain. Do not assume that removing one card or pass clears every wallet item everywhere. See Google Wallet’s card and pass management guidance.

Lock Samsung Wallet remotely
- Use Samsung’s device-finding service to remotely lock Samsung Wallet or the phone, following the controls available for your device and region.
- If you cannot lock Samsung Wallet, call the card issuer immediately using the number on the back of your physical payment card.
- If you need card-level suspension, ask the issuer directly what action is needed for the underlying card.
Samsung’s US support guidance says a remote Wallet lock requests that the issuer suspend transactions from the phone until the owner finds it and re-verifies identity. Samsung also describes resetting the phone as a remote option. Availability and exact controls can vary by region and device configuration. What wallet suspension does—and does not—do
A remote wallet action is intended to stop or remove payment capability on the missing device. It does not necessarily cancel the physical card associated with the wallet. If the card itself may be compromised, you need broader card protection, or the platform’s remote control does not work, contact the issuer and ask whether to suspend or replace the card. Issuer procedures vary.

The available actions also have different consequences: Apple Lost Mode can suspend Apple Pay without immediately cancelling the cards; Google documents securing or erasing a device, with erasure removing its payment information; Samsung documents remote locking with an issuer-suspension request. Erasing a phone is more consequential than locking it, so use it when appropriate and understand that its effects go beyond simply suspending wallet payments.

If your phone is still missing
- Keep the remote lock or lost-device mode active while you work with the carrier and issuer.
- Use the issuer’s guidance for the card itself rather than assuming a wallet-level change has cancelled it.
- Follow account recovery steps if you believe the account linked to the device is compromised.
These instructions cover Apple Pay, Google Wallet, and Samsung Wallet. They do not establish the exact procedure for every bank app, regional wallet, or phone maker; use the service’s official support instructions and your issuer’s directions for those cases.
