The Logitech MX Master 4 is no longer an unreleased rumor. The first design images appeared in June 2025 through EUIPO filings, additional photographs circulated before launch, and Logitech officially unveiled the mouse on September 30, 2025. The leak was broadly accurate about the familiar shape and redesigned thumb area, but it could not confirm the feature that ultimately defined the MX Master 4: haptic feedback paired with Logitech’s Actions Ring software.
What the original MX Master 4 leak showed
The first images came from European Union Intellectual Property Office design material rather than an anonymous concept render. That made the leak more credible than a typical rumor, because the images were connected to regulatory design filings. However, a design filing can show the exterior without confirming the final electronics, software, price, launch date, or retail packaging.
The leaked mouse remained immediately recognizable as an MX Master product. Its overall silhouette followed the MX Master 3 and MX Master 3S, including the large productivity-focused body, prominent scroll wheel and sculpted thumb side. The most noticeable change was around the thumb rest: the side control area and the arrangement of the thumb-rest buttons appeared to have been revised, with reports identifying an additional or newly positioned side button.
That visual evidence did not establish what the extra control would do. It was reasonable to expect another shortcut or gesture input, but the exact function, software support and relationship to the thumb rest were unverified until Logitech announced the finished product.
By late September 2025, photographs described as images of an actual retail unit—not just a render—circulated online. They showed the same general direction as the EUIPO material. Those photographs strengthened the case that the design was real, but Logitech’s later announcement remains the authoritative source for the final specifications.

| Would there be Mac and business versions? | Not established. | Logitech announced standard, Mac and Business versions, with availability and included accessories varying by market and SKU. |
Logitech MX Master 4 confirmed features
The headline addition is haptic feedback. The thumb-rest area contains what Logitech calls the Haptic Sense Panel, which can provide tactile responses for actions such as scrolling, navigation, selection, connection status and battery warnings. Supported applications can also use the system for workflow feedback.
Haptics are closely connected to Actions Ring, a customizable overlay in Logitech’s Logi Options+ software. The overlay is designed to place app-specific shortcuts and controls near the pointer, reducing the need to move repeatedly to toolbars or distant interface controls. The exact actions available depend on the application and Logitech’s software support.

Logitech has promoted the MX Master 4 with workflow-efficiency figures, including claims of up to 33% faster workflows and 63% fewer repetitive mouse movements. These numbers come from an internal 2025 Logitech Ergo Lab study involving 37 MX Master users and eight desktop actions. They should be treated as Logitech’s findings, not as an independent benchmark or a guarantee that every user will see the same improvement.
- Sensor: 8,000-DPI Darkfield tracking, with the Mac specification page listing an adjustable range of 200–8,000 DPI.
- Scrolling: MagSpeed electromagnetic scrolling.
- Clicks: Quiet Click technology.
- Connectivity: Bluetooth, with up to three connected devices and Easy-Switch device selection.
- Charging: USB-C.
- Battery claim: up to 70 days, according to Logitech.
- Fast charge claim: up to three hours of use after a one-minute charge, according to Logitech.
- Controls: gesture, back and forward controls, the MagSpeed wheel and the Haptic Sense Panel.
The battery figures are manufacturer specifications rather than independently verified endurance results. Actual runtime can vary with usage, connection mode, software behavior and haptic settings.
Size, weight and technical details
Logitech’s Business product documentation lists dimensions of approximately 128.2 × 88.4 × 50.8 millimeters and a weight of 150 grams. That is substantial compared with lightweight productivity or gaming mice, but the size is part of the MX Master design: it is intended to support a broad, palm-oriented grip and a large collection of controls.

The Mac specification page identifies model MR0118, Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity, a 125 Hz report rate and a 650 mAh battery using 100% recycled cobalt. Those details belong specifically to the documented Mac SKU and should not automatically be generalized to every regional version of the MX Master 4.
Standard, Mac and Business versions
MX Master 4
The standard MX Master 4 is the mainstream option for Windows, macOS and other compatible Bluetooth setups. Logitech announced a U.S. launch price of $119.99, although current pricing, colors and availability can vary by country and retailer.
If you want the central product described in this article, the Logitech MX Master 4 wireless mouse is the relevant buying path. Check the regional listing carefully: color options, included accessories and current pricing are not necessarily identical worldwide.
MX Master 4 for Mac
The Mac version is a distinct product path for people who primarily use macOS or iPadOS and want the Mac-oriented finish and compatibility description. Logitech’s Mac documentation lists Bluetooth Low Energy rather than assuming a receiver-based setup, and identifies the MR0118 model number.
Mac users comparing packages should look at the exact listing instead of assuming that the standard and Mac boxes contain the same accessories or offer identical regional colors. The MX Master 4 for Mac is the appropriate comparison option for buyers specifically choosing the Mac SKU.
MX Master 4 for Business
The Business version is aimed at managed deployments. Logitech lists it in Graphite at a $119.99 U.S. launch price through Logitech and authorized resellers. Its important distinction is support for the Logi Bolt USB-C receiver, along with Logitech Sync-oriented deployment and monitoring features.
That makes the Business model more relevant to organizations that need centralized device management or a receiver-based fleet deployment. It does not mean that every consumer package includes a Logi Bolt receiver. Buyers who need one should verify the bundle, because a Logi Bolt USB-C receiver is a separate purchasing consideration for compatible Business setups or replacement needs.

Windows 11 haptics arrived after launch
Haptics were part of the MX Master 4 story at launch, but Windows integration continued to develop. On May 20, 2026, Logitech announced native Windows 11 haptic integration. Examples included alignment assistance in PowerPoint and window snapping or resizing.
According to Logitech, existing owners can unlock the capability through a firmware update delivered in Logi Options+. New units from a later production window were expected to support it out of the box. This means the experience can depend on the mouse’s firmware, the installed version of Logi Options+, Windows 11 support and the application being used.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesLogitech’s firmware release notes list version 27.1.16, released September 30, 2025, with stability updates and haptic-latency improvements for the MX Master 4, MX Master 4 for Business and MX Master 4 for Mac. If haptics are not working as expected, updating Logi Options+ and checking for firmware updates should be an early troubleshooting step.
MX Master 4 vs. MX Master 3S: is the upgrade worthwhile?
The MX Master 4 is best understood as an evolution rather than a completely new mouse. The broad shape, productivity-first controls, electromagnetic scroll wheel and multi-device concept continue the MX Master 3S approach. The upgrade case centers on the new thumb-area haptics, Actions Ring and later Windows 11 integration.
| Choose the MX Master 4 if… | Stay with an MX Master 3S or another mouse if… |
|---|---|
| You want tactile feedback for supported actions and apps. | You do not expect to use haptics or Actions Ring. |
| You want the newest MX Master hardware and software direction. | Your existing MX Master 3S already covers your workflow. |
| You regularly use creative, office or multitasking shortcuts. | You prefer a simpler mouse with fewer controls and less software dependence. |
| You value multi-device Bluetooth switching and a large productivity shape. | You need a very light mouse, a high polling rate or gaming-focused performance. |
| You are deploying compatible Business units and need Logi Bolt or Logitech Sync features. | You need a receiver included in the box but are considering a consumer package without one. |
The upgrade is therefore not automatic. If the MX Master 3S already feels comfortable and you will not use Actions Ring or haptic feedback, the newer model may not justify its price. Conversely, users who frequently switch devices or work in supported creative and office applications have a clearer reason to choose the MX Master 4.

- Your hand can relax in comfort hour after hour with this ergonomically designed mouse. Its contoured shape with soft rubber grips, gently curved sides and broad palm area give you the support you need for effortless control all day long.
- You’ve got the control to do more, faster. Flipping through photo albums and Web pages is a breeze, especially for right-handers—with three standard buttons plus Back/Forward buttons that you can also program to switch applications, go full screen and more. And side-to-side scrolling plus zoom gives you the power to scroll horizontally and vertically through your music library, maps and Facebook feeds, and zoom in and out of photos and budget spreadsheets with a click.* * Requires Logitech SetPoint software (Windows) or Logitech Control Center software (Mac OS X)
- Two years of battery life practically eliminates the need to replace batteries. ** The On/Off switch helps conserve power, smart sleep mode extends battery life and an indicator light eliminates surprises. ** Battery life may vary based on user and computing conditions.
- The tiny Logitech Unifying receiver stays in your laptop. There’s no need to unplug it when you move around, so there’s less worry of it being lost. And you can easily add compatible wireless mice and keyboards to the same wireless receiver.
Who should skip the MX Master 4?
People seeking a lightweight gaming mouse should look elsewhere. At about 150 grams, the MX Master 4 prioritizes controls, battery capacity and an ergonomic productivity shape over low weight. Its 125 Hz report rate on the documented Mac specification page also illustrates that it is not designed around the high polling rates and low latency targets of gaming mice.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
It may also be a poor fit if you dislike companion software. The mouse remains usable for basic pointer input through Bluetooth, but its most distinctive features—Actions Ring customization, supported haptic behavior and firmware updates—depend on Logitech’s software ecosystem.
Charging, receivers and setup details to check
- Confirm the package contents: Logitech’s launch material indicated that a USB-C charging cable was sold separately. Check the exact retailer and regional SKU before buying a cable or assuming one is included.
- Check the connection method: Bluetooth is central to the standard and Mac buying paths. The Business model adds Logi Bolt USB-C receiver support, but the receiver’s inclusion should be verified.
- Install Logi Options+: This is needed for Actions Ring customization, supported haptic behavior and firmware updates.
- Update before judging haptics: Firmware version 27.1.16 included stability and haptic-latency improvements, and later Windows 11 functionality requires the relevant software and firmware support.
- Check operating-system and app support: Windows 11 features such as PowerPoint alignment and window snapping are examples of supported integrations, not proof that every application exposes haptic controls.
Launch bonus and software bundle
Logitech’s launch announcement said each purchase included a one-month complimentary Adobe Creative Cloud membership. That was a launch bundle, not evidence of a permanently available offer. Availability, redemption terms and eligibility should be checked before treating it as part of a current purchase decision. No current Adobe affiliate or referral arrangement is established here.
The verdict on the leak
The 2025 report was directionally right: the MX Master 4 was close to launch, it retained the familiar MX Master silhouette and its thumb-side controls were changing. It was incomplete because images alone could not reveal the final haptic system, Actions Ring software, price, battery claims, variants or Windows integration.
Now that Logitech has launched the mouse, the useful question is no longer whether the leaked design was real. It is whether haptics and Actions Ring add enough value to justify moving from an MX Master 3S—or whether the MX Master 4’s large 150-gram productivity design is a better fit than a lighter, gaming-oriented alternative.

Frequently Asked Questions
When did Logitech launch the MX Master 4?
Logitech officially unveiled the MX Master 4 on September 30, 2025. The earlier “imminent launch” wording described the June 2025 leak and is no longer an accurate description of the product’s status.
What did the leaked MX Master 4 pictures reveal?
EUIPO-derived design images showed a mouse closely related to the MX Master 3 and 3S, with changes around the thumb rest and side-control area. They did not confirm the final button functions, haptic hardware, software, price or battery claims.
Does the MX Master 4 support haptic feedback?
Yes. The final mouse includes a Haptic Sense Panel in the thumb-rest area. Logitech says it can provide tactile responses for actions including scrolling, navigation, selection, connection status, battery warnings and supported app interactions.
Does the MX Master 4 work with Windows 11 haptics?
Logitech announced native Windows 11 haptic integration on May 20, 2026. Existing owners can access the capability through the appropriate Logi Options+ firmware update, while later production units were expected to support it out of the box. Compatibility depends on the software, firmware, Windows version and application.
Is the MX Master 4 good for gaming?
It is primarily a productivity mouse. Its approximately 150-gram weight, broad shape and documented 125 Hz Mac report rate make it a poor choice for buyers specifically seeking a lightweight, high-polling gaming mouse.
Does every MX Master 4 include a Logi Bolt receiver?
No broad assumption should be made. Logi Bolt USB-C receiver support is specifically documented for the Business version, while standard and Mac packages may use Bluetooth and can differ by region. Verify the exact package contents before buying.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: The MX Master 4 leak was credible and broadly accurate about the revised thumb area, but the product’s important story emerged only after launch: haptic feedback, Actions Ring and expanding Windows 11 integration. It is a compelling successor for productivity users who will use those features, but not an automatic upgrade for satisfied MX Master 3S owners or a sensible pick for lightweight-gaming buyers.
