Logitech’s MX Master 4 is receiving a Windows 11 haptics and compatibility update, not a separately identified new mouse model. Logitech announced the mouse in September 2025, then said in May 2026 that existing units can gain native Windows 11 haptics through a firmware update and that new units shipping in Fall 2026 would support the feature out of the box. The key question for buyers is whether customizable thumb-area feedback and the Actions Ring improve the way they work.
What Logitech changed in 2026
Logitech announced the MX Master 4 on September 30, 2025. Its later announcement, dated May 20, 2026, concerns native haptic integration with Windows 11. Logitech says existing owners can enable the feature by updating mouse firmware in Logi Options+ and using the latest updated version of Windows 11. New units shipping in Fall 2026 are expected to support it out of the box. Logitech has not described this as a distinct hardware revision.
Logitech says additional haptic effects for Windows 11 and third-party applications will roll out over time, so the effects available may depend on software and application support. Logitech’s Windows 11 haptics announcement explains the update.
What the MX Master 4 adds
Customizable thumb-area haptics
The MX Master 4 is the first MX mouse Logitech describes as having customizable haptics. Feedback is delivered through the thumb area, with effects intended to make actions and interactions more tactile. With Windows 11 integration, supported system interactions can provide native haptic responses; availability for particular applications can vary.

Actions Ring shortcuts
Actions Ring is a customizable on-screen overlay that gives quick access to shortcuts and tools. It requires Logitech’s Logi Options+ software, so it is not simply a hardware button feature that works independently of software. Whether it is useful depends on the applications and actions you configure. Logitech reports up to 63% fewer repetitive mouse movements and up to 33% time savings with Actions Ring; those are company-reported figures, not independent test results. Logitech’s product page says its Ergo Lab work involved 37 MX Master mouse users and eight desktop actions, which provides context for the company’s claims rather than independent validation. Scrolling, clicks and charging
Logitech says the MagSpeed wheel can scroll up to 1,000 lines per second and that the clicks are 90% quieter than those of the MX Master 3. The mouse charges over USB-C; Logitech says the charging cable is not included. These are manufacturer claims and specifications, not independent measurements.

MX Master 4 specifications
Logitech’s support specification lists model number MR0118. Its figures describe the manufacturer’s product specifications, not independent test results.

What to check before buying or updating
If you already own an MX Master 4
- Install or open Logi Options+ and check for the MX Master 4 firmware update that enables Windows 11 haptics.
- Update Windows 11 to the latest available version, as Logitech requires the latest updated Windows 11 for the integration.
- Test the haptic effects in the Windows interactions and applications you actually use; Logitech says support for further effects and third-party apps will continue to roll out.
If you are considering a purchase
- Check whether customizable haptics and Actions Ring are supported and useful in your normal workflow.
- Confirm that your operating system and applications work with Logi Options+ and the features you want.
- Compare the mouse’s 150 g weight, dimensions, thumb controls and scrolling behavior with your current mouse, especially if ergonomics or portability matter.
- Consider USB-C charging and the stated battery life, and factor in that Logitech does not include the charging cable.
- Compare local prices and availability before deciding. The official information cited here does not establish current street prices or retailer stock.
Is the MX Master 4 a worthwhile upgrade?
It is most compelling if you want programmable shortcuts through Actions Ring or tactile feedback in a compatible Windows 11 setup. Existing MX Master 4 owners do not need a newly named model to get the announced Windows haptics integration; Logitech says an eligible firmware update enables it. For someone considering a new mouse, the listed specifications and features help frame the comparison, but they do not establish that the MX Master 4 is better for everyone. The value depends on the software features, ergonomics, connectivity and price that matter in your setup.
