Logitech announced the G309 LIGHTSPEED wireless gaming mouse on July 9, 2024, with a U.S. suggested retail price of $79.99. Logitech’s battery claim is more than 300 hours of continuous gameplay over LIGHTSPEED at a 1 ms report rate using one AA alkaline battery. That is a manufacturer specification, not an independently measured result.
What Logitech announced
The G309 combines Logitech’s LIGHTSPEED wireless connection with Bluetooth and is positioned around wireless flexibility and long battery life. Its announced U.S. suggested retail price was $79.99; that launch figure does not establish the mouse’s current retail price or availability.
Logitech described the mouse as using its HERO 25K sensor. In the launch announcement, the company said: “Also featuring the exceedingly power-efficient HERO 25K sensor, the G309 offers over 300 hours of continuous gameplay at a 1 ms report rate in LIGHTSPEED on just one AA alkaline battery.” Logitech’s July 9, 2024 announcement is the source for the launch details and quoted claim.

Logitech lists up to 300 hours at a 1 kHz report rate when the G309 uses one AA alkaline battery over LIGHTSPEED. Its support specifications list up to 600 hours over Bluetooth with an AA alkaline battery. These are Logitech specifications; they are not independent battery-life tests, and actual runtime can vary with use.

Can you use the G309 over Bluetooth?
Yes. The G309 supports Bluetooth as well as Logitech LIGHTSPEED, so it can connect using either wireless mode. Logitech’s listed Bluetooth runtime is longer than its LIGHTSPEED figure, but those manufacturer figures do not by themselves indicate which mode will perform better for a particular game or setup.

At its announced U.S. price of $79.99, the G309’s clearest buying case is the combination of LIGHTSPEED and Bluetooth connectivity, Logitech’s claimed long AA battery life, and the option to use POWERPLAY. Whether that makes it worthwhile depends on which of those features matter to you. The available specifications do not establish independent battery results or enough comparative information on weight, ergonomics, switches, or performance to conclude that it is a better buy than another wireless gaming mouse.
