To change LinkedIn notifications, open Settings & Privacy > Notifications, choose a category under Notifications you receive, and adjust the alert type. On a phone, LinkedIn’s notification preference and the device’s permission to show push alerts are separate controls, so check both if push alerts are the issue.
Change notification settings on desktop
- Select Me or your profile picture on LinkedIn.
- Select Settings & Privacy.
- Select Notifications in the left rail.
- Under Notifications you receive, open a category and change the option for the notification type you want to control. LinkedIn says connection-notification changes save automatically.
LinkedIn’s notification-management instructions also let you adjust an individual alert: open the Notifications tab, select the More icon beside the alert, choose Change notification preferences, then update the relevant option. To restore an alert you previously turned off, use Manage notifications and switch its category back on.
Change notification settings in the LinkedIn app
- Tap your profile photo.
- Tap Settings & Privacy. Depending on the instructions or app interface, this may appear as Settings.
- Tap Notifications.
- Under Notifications you receive, choose a category and adjust the notification type.
You can also manage a specific alert from the app’s Notifications tab using its More menu. Swiping left to delete an alert removes that item; it does not change the setting for future alerts of that type.
Change settings in a mobile browser
Tap your profile photo, open the Settings icon, choose Notifications, select a category, and toggle the alert type you want to change. If labels differ in your browser, look for Settings & Privacy, then Notifications.

Choose what LinkedIn sends and where it appears
LinkedIn organizes notification preferences by category and type. Depending on the alert, you can control in-product notifications, mobile push alerts, or email. Categories include activity involving you, network activity, invitations and messages, jobs, news, and events. Some email preferences also let you choose delivery frequency. For applicable messages, LinkedIn says an unsubscribe link may be available in the email itself. See LinkedIn’s email notification guidance.
- In-product: Alerts shown in LinkedIn’s Notifications tab.
- Push: Alerts delivered through your phone’s notification system. LinkedIn’s preference determines whether it sends the alert; the phone’s operating system determines whether the app may display push alerts.
- Email: Messages delivered to your email address, with frequency controls available for some types.
Allow or block push alerts in your phone settings
If LinkedIn is configured to send push alerts but none appear on the device, check the operating-system permission as well. Menu names can vary by OS version. LinkedIn’s mobile push notification guidance explains the distinction between LinkedIn preferences and device permissions.

What happens when you turn a notification type off
Turning off a type in LinkedIn’s preferences can remove existing notifications of that type from the Notifications tab and stop new ones. Turning it back on can make earlier alerts of that type reappear. Your feed is not changed: LinkedIn says notification preferences affect alerts, not the content that appears in the feed. Troubleshoot LinkedIn alerts that are not arriving
If notifications have stopped arriving, LinkedIn recommends resetting settings in two categories and checking the related delivery-method options. Its notification troubleshooting steps specify these categories:
- Open Settings & Privacy > Notifications.
- Under Connecting with others > Updates from your network, switch an enabled setting off and back on. If it is already off, switch it on and back off.
- Repeat the same reset under Posting and commenting > Comments and reactions.
- Check the delivery-method settings for the alerts you expect. LinkedIn says push notifications may not work correctly unless In-app notifications are also on.
LinkedIn says new notifications should start appearing within 48–72 hours after this reset. If the issue persists, its troubleshooting page directs readers to guidance for common LinkedIn mobile app issues.
