LineageOS 18.1, based on Android 11, was announced on April 1, 2021. Launch coverage reported builds for more than 60 smartphones from brands including Google, OnePlus, Xiaomi, Sony, Motorola, LG, and Samsung. That was a release-era count—not a statement of which phones are supported today.
What LineageOS 18.1 added
LineageOS 18.1 brought Android 11 features to supported devices, including one-time app permissions, bubble notifications, persistent media controls, and updated keyboard autofill behavior. The release also added dark-mode support across LineageOS apps and replaced the calendar app. Ars Technica’s April 2021 release coverage describes the launch and these changes.
Which phones were included at launch?
The more-than-60 figure belongs to the April 2021 launch. Reported examples included the Google Pixel 4a 5G; OnePlus 8, 8 Pro, and 8T; Samsung Galaxy S4 variants; Motorola Moto G devices; Sony Xperia XA2 models; and Xiaomi Mi, Poco, and Redmi devices. The launch-era device roundup is useful historical context, but it is not a substitute for official support information for a particular phone.
Is your exact phone model supported?
Check the current LineageOS device listing, then open the installation guide for the exact model and hardware variant. The project warns that devices absent from its listing are unsupported, and phones with similar names may not be interchangeable. A launch-era listing does not prove that a device still receives builds of 18.1—or that every regional variant is supported.

Some device pages may show 18.1 among previously supported versions while identifying a newer version as current. The available project information does not establish a single end-of-maintenance date for LineageOS 18.1, so check the device page for its present status rather than assuming ongoing updates.
What to check before installing
- Exact variant: Match the phone’s model identifier to the device page and its guide; a shared product name is not enough.
- Bootloader: Confirm that the bootloader can be unlocked. A locked or non-unlockable bootloader can prevent installation.
- Device-specific instructions: Follow the current guide for that model, not generic flashing directions. LineageOS requires valid wiki installation instructions for supported devices; its documented default recovery solution for 18.1 and later is LineageOS Recovery. See the project’s device requirements.
Installation requirements can differ by device. Do not proceed unless the exact guide applies to your hardware and you understand its prerequisites.

Select a package that matches both the Android version and the device architecture. LineageOS says it does not support these packages; consult the Google Apps guidance for the applicable details.
