The merger between Scottish law firms Lindsays and Glasgow-based Dallas McMillan took effect on 1 September 2026. Lindsays says no jobs were lost as part of the completed merger, which brought more than 40 staff into the firm.

Which Scottish businesses merged?

Lindsays, a Scottish law firm, merged with Glasgow legal practice Dallas McMillan. Lindsays announced the deal in June 2026 and confirmed its completion on 1 September 2026. Lindsays’ completion announcement and contemporaneous coverage by Scottish Legal News identify the firms and the transaction timeline.

What does “no redundancies” mean here?

In its completion announcement on 1 September, Lindsays said: “Importantly, no jobs have been lost as part of the merger.” That is the firm’s report of the outcome of this transaction; it is not a guarantee about future staffing. Before completion, the June announcement had said that no job losses were anticipated. Scottish Legal News’ June coverage reported that earlier expectation.

How many people joined Lindsays?

According to Lindsays’ 2026 completion announcement, more than 40 staff joined when the merger took effect. The firm said its Glasgow city-centre team grew from 80 people to more than 120, while its team across its offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee, Perth and Crieff rose to more than 420. These are company-reported headcounts, not independent workforce statistics. Lindsays’ announcement gives the completion figures.

Figures published when the deal was announced were projections, not the final reported totals. Scottish Legal News said Dallas McMillan had six partners and 37 staff, with the Glasgow team expected to reach 123 and Lindsays’ total headcount expected to reach 417. The completion announcement later described the Glasgow team as more than 120 and the firm-wide team as more than 420.

What does the merger mean for clients?

The incoming lawyers advise in several areas, including personal injury, employment law, commercial property, corporate matters, residential conveyancing, and private-client work such as wills and powers of attorney. Lindsays says clients will benefit from the broader range of services available through the enlarged firm.

The Glasgow operation is consolidated at Lindsays’ city-centre presence. The June announcement identified Queen Street as the base for Glasgow staff. The firms’ statements describe the intended service and growth benefits; they do not independently establish how client outcomes will change over time.

What have the firms said about the deal?

Lindsays managing partner Andrew Diamond described the merger as part of the firm’s steady growth and said it had been seeking the right opportunity to expand its Glasgow presence. David McElroy, Dallas McMillan’s former managing partner and now a Lindsays partner, said the merger offered opportunities for clients and colleagues. These are the firms’ stated views on the rationale and expected benefits, rather than independently verified results.

The available announcements do not state the financial terms of the transaction or establish its longer-term integration results.
