The Life of Alex inventory showcase describes a work-in-progress system for picking up and storing items, selecting them, viewing their information and interacting with them. The creator also says the inventory connects to consumables and player stats. It is an early-development look at the project, not a specification of the finished game.
What the inventory showcase covers
In a DEV Community post published September 26, 2026, the developer posting as MTIndieDev describes the showcase as a walkthrough of the inventory’s current behavior: “from picking up and storing items to selecting them, viewing their information, and interacting with them.” Read the inventory-system post on DEV Community.
Those descriptions outline a basic item flow, but they do not establish the exact controls or what each interaction does. The post says the project is very early in development and that the system and presentation will continue to change.
Pickup and storage
The creator says the system handles picking up and storing items. The post does not specify inventory capacity, whether items can stack, or how long stored items persist.

Selection and information
Players can select items and view their information, according to the showcase description. It does not detail the interface layout or which information appears for an item.
Interaction, consumables and player stats
The inventory is connected to consumable items and player stats. A companion first-episode post on GameDev.net, published September 23, 2026, also describes that integration. Neither post explains which stats change, what consumables do, or the rules governing item use. Read the first inventory episode on GameDev.net.
