Lie of Caelum: Spirit is a forthcoming sci-fi mecha JRPG reportedly built in RPG Maker MZ—the accessible RPG-making tool often associated with 2D maps and event-driven stories. Its reported 3D mech exploration and combat make that choice surprising, but the precise techniques behind the presentation have not been explained publicly in the cited coverage.
What is Lie of Caelum: Spirit?
Lie of Caelum: Spirit is a single-player, turn-based sci-fi RPG from developer Classi5ed. GamesRadar describes it as inspired by the PSX era, Xenogears and Phantasy Star. Its official Steam listing describes a story-focused game with mechs, side quests and minigames, and currently labels it “Coming soon.”
The game’s pitch combines exploration on foot and in a mech with turn-based battles and optional activities. Steam describes timed-input combat, perfect guards, role-based strategy, equipment that can change a character’s playstyle, and Link Catalysts, alongside quests and minigames. GamesRadar also mentions activities including racing, a card game and fishing.

GamesRadar reports that Spirit was made in RPG Maker MZ, the 2020 version of the RPG-making software. Its article contrasts the game’s 3D mech presentation with the tool’s more familiar accessible workflow, which Steam’s RPG Maker description summarizes as entering character stats, drawing maps and using an eventing system to drive the story.
#1 Best Overall
That contrast is striking, but it does not establish that RPG Maker MZ is incapable of supporting ambitious work. The point is the apparent gap between what many players associate with the tool and what Spirit shows. GamesRadar says the developer’s technical skill is central to that result, while acknowledging that the article cannot explain exactly how the game was built.
What is known—and unknown—about its 3D presentation?
GamesRadar quotes Classi5ed saying, “I want to see your face when I tell you this was made in RPG Maker MZ.” The remark accompanied older footage showing exploration on foot and in a mech, including transitions between the two. That footage supports the claim that the game presents both modes; it does not reveal how the transitions or 3D scenes were implemented.

The available coverage does not identify the specific plugins, custom code, rendering approach or other techniques used. It would be speculation to claim that a particular plugin or workaround powers the game. The sound conclusion is narrower: the reported engine is RPG Maker MZ, and the technical method behind the 3D scenes remains unexplained.

What do the campaign figures say about scope?
GamesRadar reported that the Kickstarter sought $34,000 and raised more than $147,000. The campaign pitch promised a “60+ hours of main campaign” and “20+ hours of meaningful side content.” Those are funding and projected-scope claims from the campaign, not verified delivered content or independently measured playtime.
Rank #3
The project follows Lie of Caelum, a smaller free game released on Steam in 2022, according to GamesRadar. The developer described that earlier game as a portfolio project and said its reception encouraged work on Spirit.
Is a demo or a console version confirmed?
A September 2026 Steam Community announcement from Classi5ed said a demo was in development and would include the Zero Frame Racing minigame and a boss. That announcement is not confirmation that the demo is currently available.
The campaign FAQ says the base game is funded regardless of stretch goals. Switch 2 and Xbox ports are exceptions: those versions depend on reaching their respective campaign goals, so they should be treated as contingent rather than confirmed releases. The Steam page continues to list the game as “Coming soon.”
What should players make of the “impossible” reaction?
GamesRadar reported a social-media reaction describing the project as “3D mech combat in RPG maker????? God’s strongest programmer.” It captures the surprise at the engine-feature combination, but it is best understood as a reaction, not a technical assessment.
