LG’s UltraGear GX7 (27GX790A) is a 27-inch QHD OLED gaming monitor with a maximum refresh rate of 480Hz and a DisplayPort 2.1 connection. The question mark is the port’s bandwidth tier: LG’s announcement describes a 67% increase over DisplayPort 1.4, but the published material cited here does not identify the monitor’s specific UHBR tier. That leaves its support for full 80Gbps DisplayPort 2.1 unconfirmed.
What is LG’s 480Hz OLED monitor?
The monitor is the LG UltraGear GX7, model 27GX790A. LG announced it on November 18, 2024, as a 27-inch QHD (2,560 × 1,440) WOLED display with a maximum 480Hz refresh rate and a stated 0.03ms gray-to-gray (GTG) response time. Those are manufacturer specifications, not results from an independent test. LG’s announcement
Model identifiers can vary by region. LG’s New Zealand product page lists the monitor as 27GX790A-B. It also says DP, HDMI, and USB cables are included, while the graphics card is not. LG New Zealand’s product page
What is the DisplayPort 2.1 question?
LG lists DisplayPort 2.1, but that version label alone does not establish the connection’s maximum bandwidth. The issue is whether this monitor implements a particular UHBR (Ultra-High Bit Rate) tier—and, specifically, whether it supports the full 80Gbps capability discussed in coverage of the announcement.

LG’s announcement says DisplayPort 2.1 provides a 67% bandwidth increase over DisplayPort 1.4, but does not name a UHBR tier. HotHardware’s November 18, 2024 report applies that increase to DisplayPort 1.4’s 32.4Gbps maximum, arriving at about 54Gbps. The article contrasts that figure with 80Gbps as the full-bandwidth DisplayPort 2.1 capability. That arithmetic is not a measurement of the GX7, and it does not prove which tier LG implemented. The cited product information therefore does not confirm whether the monitor supports 80Gbps. HotHardware’s report on the bandwidth question
