The LG TWIN171216T is a two-washer, one-dryer laundry system: a 16 kg main washer, a separate 2.5 kg MiniWasher and a 9 kg drying capacity. Its defining benefit is running two separate wash loads at once—not fitting 18.5 kg into one drum. It may suit a household that regularly separates small specialty loads from everyday laundry, but its size, weight and split capacities deserve careful consideration.
What the LG TWIN171216T includes
LG Australia lists three capacities for this system. The main front-loading washer handles up to 16 kg; the pedestal MiniWasher handles up to 2.5 kg; and the dryer is rated for up to 9 kg. The combined 18.5 kg figure refers to the two washers’ total wash capacity, not a single drum. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent performance measurements. The 2017 LG sheet describes the MiniWasher as intended for specialty laundry such as delicates. LG lists six MiniWasher cycles, including Light Soil, Active Wear, Speed Wash, Hand Wash and Tub Clean. The main washer has 15 listed cycles, including Cotton, Baby Care, Speed Wash, Bedding Care, Wool, Hygiene, Allergy Care and Refresh. Those cycle names describe the manufacturer’s offerings; they do not establish comparative cleaning results.

Who benefits from the two-washer design?
The clearest reason to choose this format is the option to wash a regular load in the main drum while a separate, small load runs in the MiniWasher. That separation can be useful when laundry needs different handling—for example, everyday clothes in the main washer and a small delicates load in the mini unit. LG’s launch-era sheet says the system enables simultaneous washing; the benefit is flexibility, not a demonstrated reduction in total laundry time.

The mini unit’s 2.5 kg limit and cold-water-only operation make it a supplement, not a second full-size washer. If simultaneous small-load washing is not a recurring need, the extra component may add more installation complexity than practical value.
Will it fit and can it be delivered?
LG Australia lists the combined dimensions as 700 mm wide × 1340 mm high × 835 mm deep. The main unit weighs 105 kg and the MiniWasher 48.7 kg, according to LG. Those figures make access and handling important parts of the decision, not afterthoughts.
- Measure the intended location, including clearance needed for doors, hoses and ventilation as applicable.
- Check the full delivery route—doorways, hallways, stairs, turns and lift capacity—with the retailer or installer.
- Confirm the floor and installation conditions can accommodate the system and its component weights.
- Ask the retailer or installer to verify water, drainage and power connections for the exact model and site.
The published dimensions alone do not prove that the appliance will fit through an access route or that a particular home is ready for installation. Confirm those details before ordering.

What does LG publish about water and energy use?
LG Australia lists 621 kWh per 365 uses for washing and 373 kWh per 52 uses for drying. It also lists 164 L of water for washing and 16 L for drying. These are the manufacturer’s declared figures; the listing does not establish what a particular household will use. Actual consumption depends on load size, cycle selection and usage. The values should not be converted into a household cost without applicable tariffs and usage assumptions.
LG lists a maximum main-washer spin speed of 1000 rpm. Treat that as a specification, not evidence that this model removes more water or performs better than another machine.
What do independent review results establish?
CHOICE’s LG TWIN171216T review page identifies the product as a front-loading washing machine, but its expert rating and performance measures—including dirt removal, rinse performance, gentleness, water efficiency, spin efficiency, cycle time and noise—are available to members only. The public page does not provide enough results to report a score or reach a tested-performance verdict. The available public evidence therefore supports a review of the system’s published specifications and trade-offs, not a claim that it has been independently shown to clean or run better than alternatives.

Warranty, availability and regional details
For Australia, LG’s product page lists two years of parts and labour coverage plus eight additional years of Inverter Direct Drive motor parts coverage. The additional eight years apply to motor parts, not the whole appliance. Check the current warranty terms for the market and seller where you plan to buy. Verdict: a specialist choice, not a conventional all-in-one drum
The TWIN171216T’s strongest case is practical: it combines a large main washer with a small separate washer so two loads can run concurrently. Its trade-offs are equally concrete: a 9 kg dryer capacity below the main washer capacity, a cold-water-only 2.5 kg mini unit, and a tall, heavy installation. Consider it if simultaneous separate loads solve a regular laundry problem and the site can accommodate the system. For a performance comparison with another washer-dryer, use comparable wash and dry capacities, standardized water and energy figures, installation footprint, cycles, warranty scope and current local availability; the public evidence cited here does not provide an independent head-to-head score.
