The LG C6 OLED is a premium 4K OLED TV with 165Hz gaming support and LG’s Alpha 11 AI Processor Gen3. The four sizes in this title are not interchangeable. Independent reviewers tested the 65-inch model and say their findings carry over to the 55-inch, but they describe the 42-inch as less bright and the 48-inch as built on a different panel design. Against LG’s C5, reviewers call the C6 a modest upgrade, so the launch price and the size you choose decide whether it is worth buying.
What LG launched and what each size cost at launch
LG Electronics USA announced pricing and availability for its 2026 flagship TVs, with U.S. availability in March 2026. The C6 family spans six sizes, from 42 to 83 inches. The four models in this title had the following U.S. launch MSRPs. These are LG’s launch figures, not current selling prices.

What independent reviewers found
RTINGS: a minor step up with size-specific caveats
RTINGS tested the 65-inch model, which it bought for review, and states that its results also apply to the 55-inch. It is more cautious about the other two sizes. The 42-inch lacks Brightness Booster and is not as bright, and the 48-inch uses a tandem panel similar to the C6H, so RTINGS says its main review does not apply to that size. RTINGS calls the C6 a very minor incremental upgrade over the C5.
TechRadar: a clearer step up on the 65-inch
TechRadar reviewed the 65-inch model under the headline “LG C6 review: a brighter, faster and more accurate-looking OLED TV.” It calls the set a nice step up over the C5, while noting that the C5 was significantly cheaper at the time it reviewed the C6. Its review covers only the 65-inch, so its praise does not describe the other three sizes.
Tom’s Guide: a value warning in its headline
Tom’s Guide’s review is headlined “LG C6 OLED review: The best OLED TV you shouldn’t buy (yet).” This article uses that source only for launch-price context, not for performance findings.

How much better is the C6 than the C5?
Reviewers agree that the gains are real but small. RTINGS names these improvements:
- A small brightness gain with some content, most noticeable in brighter HDR scenes.
- Slightly brighter colors.
- Substantially better gradient handling, which is the most distinct improvement RTINGS identifies.
RTINGS suggests that buyers may be better served by discounted C5 stock, given the C6’s steep launch price. TechRadar’s review reaches a more positive conclusion on the 65-inch model, but it also notes the price gap to the C5.
Specifications and format support
TechRadar’s specification summary for the reviewed 65-inch set lists the following. RTINGS also reports the absence of DTS passthrough and HDR10+.

- 165Hz refresh rate
- Dolby Vision, HDR10, and HLG
- Dolby Atmos
- webOS 26
- Four HDMI 2.1 ports
The C6 does not support HDR10+ or DTS, according to TechRadar and RTINGS. TechRadar also states that Dolby Vision 2 is unsupported. If your sources or external receiver depend on DTS, plan for an alternative audio path. These are review-reported specifications, so confirm them against the exact regional model before relying on them for compatibility.
Choosing a size
No single size is the best choice for every room, because the four models differ in brightness and coverage. Use these points to decide:
- 42-inch (OLED42C6PUA): Suits a desk or small room. Reviewers say it is less bright and lacks Brightness Booster, so it is the least suited to bright rooms.
- 48-inch (OLED48C6PUA): Its review coverage is the weakest of the four. RTINGS says its main review does not apply to this size, so check the size-specific findings before buying.
- 55-inch (OLED55C6PUA): Inherits RTINGS’ 65-inch results. That is RTINGS’ stated view, not a separate measurement of the 55-inch.
- 65-inch (OLED65C6PUA): The only size with direct testing from both RTINGS and TechRadar, and the strongest case for the C6’s premium features.
Match the size to your seating distance and room lighting, not only to the price.

Price and value
The launch MSRPs above are not current prices, and this article does not track live retailer listings or stock. Check the exact model number at the time you buy. Launch prices step up by $200 from 42-inch to 48-inch, $400 from 48-inch to 55-inch, and $700 from 55-inch to 65-inch. The total spread from the 42-inch to the 65-inch is $1,300.
Before paying the launch price, compare it with discounted C5 stock, as RTINGS recommends. If you plan to wall-mount the TV, confirm the mounting specification for your exact size in LG’s documentation; this article did not verify mount compatibility for any model.

Quick Recap
What these reviews do and do not establish
- TechRadar tested only the 65-inch model. RTINGS tested the 65-inch and extended its results to the 55-inch.
- The 42-inch and 48-inch have less direct review coverage, and RTINGS’ caveats about them should be read before purchase.
- The reviews cited here describe brightness and gaming performance qualitatively. This article quotes no numeric brightness or input-lag results.
- Gaming figures such as 165Hz, VRR, and 0.1ms response time are LG’s claims.
- This site did not test the TVs itself. Its descriptions rely on the LG announcement, the LG product page, and the RTINGS, TechRadar, and Tom’s Guide reviews.
