Yes. The U.S. 42-inch LG C4 OLED, model OLED42C4PUA, can serve as a large PC gaming display: LG lists 4K resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, NVIDIA G-SYNC, AMD FreeSync Premium and 0.1ms response time. But 144Hz is a display capability, not a promise that every PC, game or console will output 144 frames per second. The widely reported $699–$699.99 Amazon deal dates to June 2025; it is not evidence of a price currently available.
What the 42-inch LG C4 is—and what it offers for gaming
The OLED42C4PUA is LG’s 42-inch C4 OLED television from its 2024 lineup, rather than a dedicated computer monitor. LG describes its gaming features as “Ultimate Gaming with 144Hz Refresh Rate, NVIDIA G-Sync, AMD FreeSync Premium and 0.1ms response time.” Those are manufacturer-listed specifications; they do not mean every connected device or game can use every feature at once.

For a PC setup, the headline combination is a 4K OLED screen with a refresh rate of up to 144Hz. A display’s refresh rate describes how often it can refresh; the computer must still render frames at the rate you want, and the game and connection must support the relevant output. LG’s product material qualifies 144Hz operation as dependent on games or PC inputs that support it. Check your computer, connection and game settings rather than assuming a 144Hz signal will be available in every configuration.

Can the LG C4 work as your gaming monitor?
It can suit someone seeking a much larger gaming screen than a typical desk monitor, provided the desk or room has enough space and the viewing distance feels comfortable. RTINGS has a product-specific review that evaluates the 42-inch C4 in a monitor context; its findings are independent testing, not LG’s specifications. A television-sized screen is not automatically a good fit for every desk, posture or workspace.

Check these points before building a setup around it
- Space and distance: Measure the available width and depth, and consider how far back you can sit. A 42-inch screen may dominate a shallow desk or require a different seating position.
- Your PC and games: Confirm that your graphics hardware, connection and chosen games support the resolution and refresh rate you want. The screen’s maximum refresh rate does not determine the frame rate your PC can render.
- Your preferred display experience: Consider whether a large OLED TV suits your room lighting and the mix of gaming and other on-screen use. The right choice depends on your environment and preferences.
- Installation: If you plan to mount the TV, verify the model’s mounting pattern, weight limits and accessory compatibility before buying hardware. No particular mount is established here as compatible.
What was the Amazon deal price, and is it still available?
Deal coverage in June 2025 reported a steep discount, but those figures are historical rather than a current offer. HotHardware reported $699 at Amazon and Best Buy; Yahoo Tech reported $699.99 at Amazon as of June 17, 2025, and characterized it as a record low. The reports support describing those outlets’ characterization at the time, but do not provide a complete independently auditable price history to certify an all-time low.

To assess a purchase today, check the live listing for the exact OLED42C4PUA model, current price, stock and seller. A past deal headline cannot establish that the same offer remains available. LG’s page also indicates that a newer C5 model is available, but its listing price does not establish what the C4 currently costs at Amazon or another retailer.

How to decide whether it makes sense for your setup
Choose the C4 as a monitor-style display if you specifically want a very large 4K OLED screen and can accommodate its dimensions and viewing distance. If you mainly want a conventional desk-monitor footprint, compare screen size and desk depth before committing. For either kind of setup, match the resolution and refresh-rate target to your computer, connection and games; also account for installation and any compatible mounting hardware you may need.
