On April 29, 2019, LF Networking announced Loodse as its newest member. The announcement described Loodse’s Kubernetes and cloud-native work, why the company said it was joining the networking organization, and its plans to connect cloud-native and networking communities. It records intentions and views from 2019—not Loodse’s current membership or activities.
What did LF Networking announce?
LF Networking welcomed Loodse as a new member on April 29, 2019. In an accompanying email interview, Loodse CEO and co-founder Sebastian Scheele discussed the company’s open-source background, its interest in networking, and possible areas of community work. Read the announcement and interview.
What did Loodse do in cloud-native and Kubernetes?
Loodse described its business as centered on cloud-native technologies and Kubernetes. The company said it contributed to upstream Kubernetes and related projects, including Kubernetes Dashboard, Machine Controller, and KubeOne. Those are descriptions of Loodse’s work at the time of the 2019 announcement, not a statement about its present projects or corporate status.

Why did Loodse say it was joining LF Networking?
Scheele said Loodse saw demand for network services that could run on Kubernetes. He said the company believed its cloud-native experience could complement LF Networking projects. This was Loodse’s stated rationale for joining, rather than an independently established market forecast.
#1 Best Overall
The interview pointed to 5G and edge computing as settings where Kubernetes operations could matter. Its example focused on the challenge of managing many machines and applications with minimal intervention. In that framing, the appeal was operational: applying cloud-native tools and practices to distributed network environments.
What activities did Loodse plan in 2019?
The announcement described plans, not verified outcomes. Loodse said it intended to:
- Help organize Cloud Native Network Services Day at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe 2019.
- Contribute to Network Service Mesh.
- Connect cloud-native and networking communities through meetups.
The announcement does not establish whether each activity was completed or whether Loodse remains involved in those efforts today.

In a November 20, 2019 report, the Linux Foundation described an end-to-end cloud-native 5G demonstration spanning on-premises, cloud, and edge operations. The report quoted Scheele in the context of that demonstration: “With the VCO 3.0 demo, Loodse is excited to showcase how the Kubermatic Kubernetes Platform can deliver a consistent Kubernetes experience from cloud to core to edge.” This is a historical statement about the 2019 demo, not evidence of the platform’s current name, availability, or capabilities. What is known about Loodse’s status today?
The 2019 announcement and demonstration report establish what LF Networking and Loodse said at that time. They do not establish whether Loodse is still an LF Networking member, its current corporate status, or the present status of the Kubermatic Kubernetes Platform. LF Networking’s press releases page contains later announcements, but that newsroom index alone does not resolve those questions.
