Wccftech reported on October 2, 2026, that Lexar PLAY PRO microSD Express cards in 256GB and 512GB capacities were discounted on Amazon, starting at $79.99. The report called the offers the cards’ lowest Amazon prices, but that price-history claim and the live checkout price have not been independently verified here. Check the listing for the current price, seller, and stock before buying.
What the reported Amazon deal includes
The October 2, 2026 Wccftech deal report covers the 256GB and 512GB Lexar PLAY PRO microSD Express cards. It says prices started at $79.99 and discounts reached up to 20%. Those are claims in a dated deal report, not verified current Amazon prices; the article’s “lowest prices” description is likewise its characterization, not an independently established price-history finding.
Lexar’s official product page lists a third capacity, 1TB, but the deal report’s stated offer concerns the 256GB and 512GB versions. The listed original MSRPs below are historical launch prices announced in April 2025, not current prices.

| 512GB | Wccftech reported it as part of the Amazon offer starting at $79.99 across the 256GB and 512GB capacities; no separate live price is established. Lexar’s April 2, 2025 launch MSRP was $99.99. |

What to check before buying
- Confirm the price for the exact capacity you want at checkout; the reported $79.99 starting figure does not establish an individual current price for either capacity.
- Check that the listing is in stock and review the seller shown on Amazon.
- Confirm that your device supports microSD Express. Lexar identifies Nintendo Switch 2 as a use case, and Best Buy’s 256GB listing also describes the card as compatible with Nintendo Switch 2.
Advertised speed and device compatibility
Lexar specifies up to 900MB/s read and up to 600MB/s write for the PLAY PRO. These are manufacturer claims, not independent benchmark results. Lexar qualifies the maximum 600MB/s write speed as applying when the card is paired with its microSD Express card reader. Actual performance depends on the host device and reader, so the advertised maximum should not be assumed for every setup. See Lexar’s product specifications for the stated figures and qualification.
Is this deal worth considering?
The reported discount is most relevant if you need microSD Express storage for a compatible device such as Nintendo Switch 2. Choose between 256GB and 512GB based on the storage you need and the live prices shown for each capacity; the report does not establish their individual checkout prices. If you are buying primarily for the advertised write maximum, account for Lexar’s reader qualification and your host device’s support before treating the speed figure as a practical expectation.
